(((Hugs))) I know the feeling. It could be just because of the pg that your hair is falling. That was my first sign of pg (I realized much later.). Unfortunely, I can't help you with how to help. (I m/c and the hair stopped falling.) If your scalp is showing through, ask your doctor what you can do.

MaLee,

Sorry to hear about your mc, but I'd like to know what CMP stands for and why you have to wait a year before you can ttc again.

I have mc in 2001 and again in 2003 and both times my dr said I only have to wait 1 month or after my next cycle.

Default Long Explataion Ahead

A molar pregnancy is bad in every way. Molar in this context means a type of canerous tissue. Molar tissue produces HCG. It is a pg cancer. It is rare - 1 in 1000 chance. Something wrong happens at conception. There are two types of MP, Comlpete molar and Partial Molar. In a PMP, usually what happens is that two sperm fertizle one egg and all three sets of chromosnes reproduce giving the baby a set of 69 chromosones instead of the usual 46. The baby will develop but not always correctly. The Placenta will have some charateristics of a normal placenta and a molar one. The definig visual clue is of the chronic villi. These (I think, please correct if wrong) are the vessals that help connect the placenta to the uterus. They start to form little 'water blisters' - looks like tiny grapes. Because of this and the extra sets of chromsomes, the baby has pretty much no chance of survival - miscarriage happens.

In a CMP, one two things happen. A sperm will fertizle an empty egg and duplicate itself causing a 46XX from the father only. In another case, two sperm can fertizle an empty egg causing again all chromsones from the father. With this case, a 46 XY is possible, but rare. USUALLY, there is no baby - only placenta. All the chronic villi looking like the grape filled water sacks. Usually, this type is dected on U/S because it causes a 'snowstorm pattern' on the screen. Nothing else can be seen. Also, the Beta numbers go up extremely fast and more than double in 48 hours. Most times there are well above 100,000 in the few weeks. The high HCG causes extreme morning sickness and other symptoms of pg. The placenta grows extremely fast causes you to look farther along than you truly are. Women who are not monitored closely (women with no fertility problems) usually do not know until the miscarriage starts and they pass the grape-like vessals.

If not caught early, the molar tissue has a chance to spread into other organs, such as the lungs, heart, and brain. Not so long ago, most women with this type of pg die from the cancer. If it is caught early, a D&C is performed to make sure all tissue is removed. Your beta HCG is drawn every week until it reaches zero. Once it reaches zero, it is drawn monthly for a year. If one molar cell remained, it has the chance of reproducing and spreading. If your beta's plataeu or rise again, it means the molar tissue is back. Your only choice then is chemotherpy. You can't pg in this year because the dr. could not tell if the HCG rise was the baby or the molar tissue.

I did not have ANY of the 'usual' symtpoms. My beta's never went over 15,000 (at 8 weeks), I saw the baby and the heartbeat at 6wk1dy, I had no moring sickness, etc. The pathologist reported seeing with the naked eye a Few chronic villi that had molar tendencies. It was the chromsomes analysis that said 46XX. I can believe the PMP - but not a CMP. I believe that it is possible my chromosomes that came back. I have read it is possible for 'products of conception' (isn't that so cold) to be contaminted with the mother's cells. So for now, that's what I think happened to me.
Sorry this is so long, but I hope it helps.

I am not sure if I am IR. I wish I could have continued my Metformin but I am so sick with morning and all day sickness that I just cant. I was balding before more and more. I think I am not losing that much now. Hopefully once I start taking vitamins it will get better.
Love spark

MaLee, I am so sorry to hear that you had a CMP. My dr thought that I was having PMP and that's why I had the D&C before any bleeding ever occured. I had 3 ultra sounds and never saw a heart beat. I can only imagine how hard that must be for you. They did the genetic testing and found out that it was not a molar pregnancy, just as they put it "a bad egg that got fertilized". That statment really makes me mad. I hope that you are okay and have no lasting effects from the CMP. I'll be looking for your post next year announcing your pregnancy.
