Hi, I was recently diagnosed with PCOS. I have taken one month of provera and half of the 50 mg "clomid challenge". I was unable to complete the clomid because I did not ovulate. I am starting provera again tonight and I am not happy about the way this this medicine, as well as the clomid, make me feel. Once I get my cycle, I am starting a higher dosage of clomid... 150mg. Does anyone know what I should expect? 150 mg sounds like a lot... I have been reading some of the messages on the board and I am not sure of the lingo, so if you could fill me in please, I would appreciate it. Thanks...
I am also new to PCOS and have been TTC for 8 months after losing our fisrt in Feb. I was diagnosed with PCOS after my DH and I were unable to concieve months later. My OBGYN asked for some blood work and we found out that I had PCOS. I am currently on clomid and metformin. I have so many questions. I have never been on a chat room, however, I have gained 60lbs in the last 6 months and my moods have been unreal. Does any one have any good diet ideas and ways to help with moods. Any help would be appreciated.
Great diet and exercise will help with mood and pain, the weight loss will alleviate alot of the symptoms, I used to be my kids' worst nightmare every month, I do understand!
I suggest both of you check out the remedies section, there's loads of really useful recipies and remedies on there - good luck, you don't have to suffer just because you're a cyster!
Hi! I was diagnosed with PCOS almost 9 years ago and have taken provera and clomid more times than I would like to remember! I too, didn't ovulate on the clomid, even at 150mg, and I hated how it made me feel! They started me at 50mg, then I went to 100, then to 150mg. I'm not sure what you're experiencing, but I was VERY short tempered (my poor husband) and emotional. Little things that I would normally be able to overlook would just consume me! It was terrible! And I would get headaches from the hormonal change. The good thing was the symptoms didn't get worse with the higher dosages. I'm not sure if there is anything that can help, I always just warned my family and friends that I was starting another cycle so they needed to watch out for crabby! They were all very good about it and we joke about it today. St. Johns Wart is supposed to help with depression, anxiety, & mood swings and is said to help with sugar cravings.
I do have to say that I believe diet and exercise make all the difference! I did probably 6-3 month cycles of clomid (with 1500mg of metformin) and never ovulated! I started a
low-good carb diet and exercised only 30 minutes a day and within 5 months was pregnant without any drugs! I felt great and didn't have any mood swings, plus I lost the 30 lbs I had put on over the years!
As to the message board lingo, I have no idea! I'm new to the message board inforum too! It's all Greek to me! Sorry!
Good luck and don't give up, it's all worth it!

Thanks for welcoming me. I felt lost and like I was the only person with PCOS. After much reading and entering this site, I no longer feel alone. I have started dieting and exercising and I am doing good on my weight loss too! I went for an ultrasound last month and my doctor said that hopefully I should ovulate next month because I have a couple eggs that are alomst "ready"...whatever the heck that means...I must confess that I am still so confused. However, I was taking only 50 mg of clomid and this month after provera, my doctor rasied it to 150mg! I thought that she would double it, but not triple it! I guess that the lining of my uterus looks good for now too, so I hope that my husband and I are on our way to parenthood. I am just so afraid of being let down again after going through all of this and trying to concieve now for over 6 months. It is hard and my heart is definitely hurting...Thank God that my husband is there to pick me up...Thanks for listening.
Congratulations on starting diet and exercise. That's a big step, and I can't tell you how much it's going to help. About 2 years ago I wasn't ovulating at all, I was about 2 months late on my period and I did a low carb diet and regular exercise, and within 2 weeks I got my period and my body went back to normal... That is until I put the weight back on, but I am back on Weight Watchers and working on controlling my PCOS...
As far as the lingo that you don't understand, there's a very good Sticky Thread in the "Newbie" section about terms and abbreviations used in this board.
