Post I am new!! Introducing myself!!

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this whole thing here. I am 32 yrs old, 4'6" and weigh about 200 pd. I have hypothyroidism, had endometriosis and was just diagnosed with PCOS. If anything know anything about hypothyroidism it has alot of the same qualities as PCOS, facial hair, skin problem, infertilitly, erratic periods, mood, and weight gain. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I was about 6, so I have had to struggle with weight gain and loss my whole life along with erratic periods. I notices a severe weight gain a while ago and chalked it up to my thyroid. When I bought my wedding dress in April of 05 for my March of 06 wedding it fit fine (except length). When it was time for my alterations to be done it had to be let out as much as the dress would go. I know it was only a year but I had gained about 20 pds, and have been gaining about 20 pds a year since. With being a very short person it is killing my knees and my back.

Just recently in April, I have decided I was fed up with not getting my period all the time, so I went to the gynocologist at this point I weighed 190 pds (I weighed 172 in Feb). She ran blood work that included thyroid tests and my ovulation levels were off (I forget what it is called) she dx me with PCOS, told me to take progesterone for 3 month and then my perios would kick in. That was it nothing else. I started reading about PCOS on my own and decided to go to an Endocrinologist, she did testing for Cushings for some reason the test she was running is not covered if you are testing for PCOS. Everything came back negative for Cushings. My thyroid level was high and so were my male hormones. So here I am 2 1/2 weeks later I am currently taking 1000 mg per day of Metformin, slowly working up to 2000 mg per day. I have been getting irregular periods, but I am getting them hopefully they will regulate soon. I have also been following the DASH diet for my husbands diabetes (he lost 30 pds I have gained 20) so I am eating healthy as well

I don't know how long it takes to start seeing result from Metformin but I cannot wait.

This situation stinks, but hopefully I will learn something from everyone on this message board, and maybe I can help someone as well.

Good Luck to everyone!
