I wasn't aware that there was a lawsuit against Yasmin! I'm going to have look in to that because that's what I take. Don't be too scared or worried. PCOS is completely manageable and you don't always have to take birth control. Don't take anything I say to heart because I'm no healthcare professional and am only talking from experience, but it seems like there are people who have PCOS because of lifestyle choices and people who have PCOS because of genetics and people who have it because of a combination of both. I like to believe that if the symptoms aren't severe, it's due more to lifestyle. I know at least from personal experience that controlling my insulin levels by eating better and exercising improved my symptoms a lot. Granted, I did also take Metformin and I'm still on the pill, but maybe you can ask your doctor to direct you towards natural remedies you could try before committing to pharmaceutical treatment. If your symptoms don't approve though I would go with taking the pill. I've been on it for five years and despite smoking and drinking way more than I should have, as well as having an eating disorder for four out of those five years, I haven't had a single stroke, heart problem or clot. If you're worried about complications then be careful about coordinating your treatment drugs, follow the pharmacist's directions for taking the meds exactley, don't smoke or drink and be on the look out for dangerous side effects. |
