I am new here too. I had been told a couple years back that I had Metabolic Syndrome... now my midwife told me it is PCOS.
I am 220lbs - gain weight by merely looking at food and have all the symptoms like extra hair, acne, my waist looks lke I am preggo, I cant lose weight for the life of me. I started metformin - 500mg before bed and meet with a dietition Oct 24.
Is this what your docs are doing? I am getting the impression that I shoudl see an endocrinologist rather then just my PCP and primary care.... what do you all think/suggest?
Welcome! I guess it depends on how knowledgeable your current doc is about PCOS, and what your goals are. My current OB knows a lot about PCOS, but my last one didn't. I hope you'll find some info here that will help you take charge of your treatment.

The thing about deciding which dr to go to, like someone else said, depends on the knowledge they have about PCOS. Many doctors don't take it very seriuosly it's better to see an endo, but if your current dr knows enough and you like them there really isn't any reason to change.
