uhm...Paula I know this isn't what you want to here-sorry but...you don't get a choice in the U/S times. Because they are so busy and because you will need them on ceratin specific days you have to take what they give you-trust me it is a PITA!!
Good luck with your boss

Well your right, that isn't what I want to hear but I'll have to work through it some how. I work in a very small office and my boss is male without children and he wouldn't appreciate the fact that I'm TTC. Eventually he'll have to replace me because I do intend to get pregnant and take full maternity leave. One step at a time. I'll deal with the U/S appointments as they come. But thanks for the forewarning.
Hey Paula!
I do have an appt at the Parkdale clinic on Thurs June 12! For my 8w u/s. Maybe we can meet up!
You said you were going to ask Dr Clayman about Met during pregnancy... please tell me EVERYTHING he says!! He is more experienced than my RE & I was told that he does keep some pts on Met while pg so I am dying to know everything he tells you about this issue. As I mentioned before, it's a burning concern for me. It occupies a lot of my thoughts.
Thanks

Wow... what time is your appointment at? Were at 3pm and I hope were not sitting in the waiting room for hours. I know that there extremely busy but last time we were there for three hours and got a parking ticket! This time we'll pay at a parking lot.
Doctor Claman will be going over my BW results for Progesterone and my HSG. I expect I'll be put on Clomid. Hopefully we'll need only one round. I'm trying to be positive. Now that I'm a bit more informed I'll be discussing the Pro's and Con's of taking Met while pg. I've had one MC so I don't think I'm a candidate for taking Met the whole pregnancy. My Endo said I could but it seems that she and Claman don't hold the same views. I've heard so many ladies on this site that have continued to take Met and have beautiful healthy babies. Its a hard decision to make. Even harder if I was in your shoes. *I'll say a prayer for you*. Some ladies have taken it up to there first trimester. Is that an option for you?? What ever I find out tommorrow I'll make sure to pass along to you.
Hi Paula
I'm going to pm you so everyone isn't stuck reading our conversation

I'm from Ottawa too. Just thought i'd say "hi" to my neighbours
My doctor (endo) is Dr Hierlihy. Has anyone here seen her? what were your experiences with her and what meds are you on?
I myself am on the Alesse BCP, 1500mg metformin, 100mg spirolactone and multivitamins and I feel great. Thinking about changing to BCP Diane35 but will see what my doc says when i see her again in october.

Hi everyone,
Wow this is so neat to find others with PCOS in Ottawa. For some time I though I was the only one in this area. Well I actually just moved in the East end of Ottawa a couple of months ego. I'm currently ttc and I finally got an appointment with Dr. Leader. I was wondering if anyone had him before and if they felt he was a good Dr. I didn't like my first doc. He put me on clomid and didn't do any monitoring and he never really explained anything to me, I always got the feeling like he was just trying to get me to leave.
Dr.Leader is the BEST RE!!! I LOVE HIM!! He does alot of testing and monitoring so no need to worry about that-he explains things VERY well and is very understanding. We saw him the first time on Nov.30 1999...our daughter was born Dec.2 2000, followed by our son June 16th 2002 and I am now pregnant with #3 due to arrive in late January/early Feb!!
I just wanted to meniton that I was also seeing Doctor Hierlihy I was refered to her through the Bernstein clinic. She was the one that diagonsed me with PCOS. She also refered me to Doctor Claman at the Parkdale clinic. I'm due to see him again on SEpt 4th. Where I hope that he'll give us the o.k to start TTC again.
I was searching the net on support groups here in Ottawa and came across this site. I spoke to the lady Natasha that is holding the meeting on Sept 13th at her place with one of the doctors from the fertility clinic. Is anyone else intrested in going with me??? Here is the web site http://www.iaac.ca/english/news/
I am not sure how old this thread is. I am so glad i found it. I live in Blackburn Hamlet. Ottawa east. I was diagnosed with PCOS 13 years ago and still in denial. I have a beautiful little girl she is 2 1/2. I'd love to hear from some more Ottawatonians? Is that a word?
I am not living in Ottawa yet (I recently just moved to the Kingston area) but I will be going to school there in January. I was dx'd at 17, now I'm twenty and becoming more and more frustrated with this. I have not found an doc to replace my last endocrinologist (who I didn't like very much anyways). So maybe I'll wait till I get to Ottawa and go to the one you all are seei
Hi gurls, since I have posted my last message I haven't been on here. I have been in a stage of denile and I am really not helping myself. I am living on my own now with my BF and want to turn a new leaf. I dont know if any of you have gone threw this yet or still are. But it sucks, and it is hard not to let the food control you.
Heya.. I'm due to see Dr. Hierlihy again Jan 13th. I've been seing her for a year now. She's been great. Nice and straight to the point and if I go to her with any new info she takes it in and gives me a chance to try new meds i have suggested to her. I like her.. though I would wish she would take more time to explain to me what exacly my body goes through. Jan 2004.. Ha! my opinion about this doctor has changed..!
I know a lot, i mean i've been doing some research but it's always nice to have it explained by your doctor. Wow it took me 10 years to finally be refered (by my derm of all people) to a doctor who knows her stuff. It feels great and it feels like finally i'm going somewhere. I actually think i've hit a brick wall now!
So anyone want to get together? would be nice to put a face to all you ottawian cysters
Mel

Hi --great to hear from all you fellow Ottawans....
Congrats to those who've gotten pg. I'm currently seeing Dr. Barwin which has been quite a mixed experience. He's not an RE but a self-titled fertility specialist, a very nice man who's helped lots of people, but I'm not sure he knows enough about PCOS.
(I'm TTC through alternative insem so he's my best option). I wouldn`t mind trying to get an RE appt at some point because I want to treat more than the fertility aspects of PCOS.
I've just started on 500 mg met before Christmas & have lost 8 lbs the past 2 weeks since watching what I eat. Feeling +ve.
Would love to meet other Ottawa cysters....
