I Am So Excited!!!

After going round after round with different doctors, I finally found I competent one and he diagnosed me with IR and he thinks I have signs of PCOS. I started MET XR (500mg) on tuesday and I also have been following the IR diet book.
I had been exercising 5X a weeks and eating proper calories for almost 2 years with absolutely no results.
I am soooo happy to say that with the met/diet/exercise I have lost 7 pounds in 4 days!!!!
Now, I know it wont always be that fast, but this gives me hope and reassurance that this has been my problem all along.
I have had almost no side effects, and my doctor said to call and he might up my dose to 1000 mg and see how I do. Has anyone on XR who hasnt gotten ill on the 500 felt bad after switching to 1000?

CONGRATS ON THE 7 POUND WEIGHT LOSS!!!

I didn't have any s/e when I went from 500mg to 1000mg. I started seeing them when I went from 1000mg to 1500mg.
But each woman reacts differently to the meds, so you may be fine with the increase.

Just wait out the s/e. They will get better in a couple of weeks

I'm sure Kat will mention this, but be sure you are including resistance/weight training in your excercise program. It also helps IR.

Congrats! I am having a similar experience; I started the Met 5 days ago and have lost 4 pounds... but I feel great too. Who knows if it is psychological, but whatever works! I'm going to go up to 1000 mg today, then up to 1500 in another 5 days. Hopefully things will continue to go well.
