Hello to all of you. Its great to know that I am not alone. I was diagnosed with PCOS today by my doctor.
I am 20 years old, and I discovered that I have hypothyroidism 10 years ago. Since then, I am taking meditation (thyroxine). I also have high insulin level.
I have some symptoms of PCOS, but I don't care much about hair in my body or gain weight as I care about infertility. I am planning with my boyfriend to get engaged in 5 months from now. I am thinking a lot about difficulties of getting pregnant. I asked my doctor and he avoided to answer me. From the morning till now I have read a lot about PCOS, diet, exercise etc. I am crying all the day. Is it really difficult to get pregnant when you have PCOS?
Welcome to the board! As far as getting pregnant, it depends on the woman. I know some cysters who have gotten pg without any medications, some who have gotten pregnant by losing weight, and Metformin, and some like myself who have tried almost everything without any luck. I wouldn't get too discouraged yet. It may be more difficult for you, but not impossible. Go look at the Mommy Board and the Pregnancy Board to find some inspirational stories of mommies and mommies-to-be. If you need someone to talk to, please pm me!
Ditto! Every woman is different. Not all Cysters have infertiility problems.
Before you do try to get pregnant, please read the stickies on some of the TTC and PG boards about diet, progesterone and other things. If you do get PG, make sure to get an OB who is very familure with PCOS, and read up before you see them.
I have another one question... I have a regular period.. I always had. Is it something positive about getting pregnant easily, or it doesn't matter anyway?

Having a regular period is a very good thing, at the very least, from a health perspective. Now, it's certainly possible to get your period without ovulating and since you need to ovulate to have a baby, you may still have trouble.
However, if the time between periods is a normal (say, 25-35 days), then chances are you ARE ovulating, at least some of the time. If your cycles are very short or very long, then you probably aren't ovulating.
But on the other hand, having normal, regular cycles doesn't guarantee that you WILL get pregnant. I'm one of those cysters that had fairly regular cycles (I might have missed two a year), and it still took me nearly 2 years to get pregnant. I actually found out I was pregnant the night before my first appt with the infertility specialist, so I have no idea what our problem was. It could be my PCOS, it could be something else (like a blocked tube) or it could have been DH. Who knows! But I'm pregnant now and doing just fine.
Some women who don't ovulate at all just need to take one round of clomid to get pregnant. So sometimes it really IS that easy. As the others have said, it just depends on the woman.
So hang in there and keep your chin up! It's so easy to let PCOS consume us. . .but remember that PCOS something you have, not something you are. Take this time now to get healthier (such as lowering your insulin levels) so when the time is right to start trying for a baby, you'll already be ahead of the game.

Get a free account at www.fertilityfriend.com and start recording your temperature, taken the same way, the same hour, every day. There are other fertility signs you can record as well, and their computer program will tell you whether or not you ovulated.
I wish you the best of luck.
