today is my 8th day on met 1000mg and from day 1 taking that much. well anyways i haven't had hardly any side effects i had a little the 2nd day and some the 3rd and then the 6th(all days running to the bathroom) but i'm worried if i have hardly any side effects does that mean it's not working i'm so worried i took the side effects as meaning that it's doing it's job but if i'm have little or no side effects i think it's not working! Please someone any advice i'm so so worried.

Lack of side effects is NOT an indication of a drug's effectiveness. Just keep taking it, and in 3 - 6 months repeat your labs. THAT is the only way to know if the drug is affecting your chemical levels.

It's all good. Some literature on metformin says that only 30% of patients have the side effects. It is certainly not necessary! You must be eating with the tablets or have a tough gi tract and are able to deal with the medicine better than some gals. The positive effects of the met are a totally separate thing.

Hello thank you for your quick replys I do take it with food the doctor said take it during a meal(breakfast and dinner) although it's usually lunch and dinner i can never seem to eat breakfast i was always like that. I just hope met works for me i'm so worried and nervous i heard it can take as long as 3 months i hope it don't take me that long i don't think i can wait! but thanks again for you response
