I can NOT believe how OILY my skin is since temporarily going off BCPs!
I went off for a month (long story) and just can't get over how excessively oily my skin and scalp are! This is despite taking 100 mg of Spiro!
My doctor gave me a px for (was on OTC) Yaz and I'm so start the Sunday after my period, which won't be for another week. I have never been so anxious for my TOM!
Anyone else suffer from superbad oiliness?

Wow! I am glad to hear that I am not the only one. I went off BCP in July after 12 years and I am an oily machine... It totally grosses me out.

The excess oil is all caused by the PCOS. It can sometimes be really bad, like a little lake of oil forming after an hour. Try the usual astringents, soaps, etc. But it's important to not scrub too hard. If you scrub too hard, you irritate the skin, which makes it produce even more oil. Mud masks are good. Also, try blotting paper, which is better than re-applying powder if you're wearing make-up. http://www.healthyu-skin.org/oily_treatments.htm has some more info on different things you can try. There's also PCOS info in the acne section.
It's my hair that bothers me the most! Never mind it's thinning before my very eyes, now it's greasy again as well. When on BCPs and Spiro I can go every other day between washings. Since going off the pill, despite still being on Spiro, I'm oily once again. I've had to go back to daily washings.
Thanks to the Spironolactone and topical Tazorac, I'm at least acne-free.
Thanks for the link...I'll check it out.

I went off BCP after 6 years for about three months. My skin was soooooo oily I couldn't wear makeup. It would just melt off! I would get out of the shower and within literally ten minutes my face was as oily as it would have gotten in an entire day while on the pill. I couldn't believe it! I tried several cleansers and mattifying gels and nothing reduced the oil. I would use blotting papers every two hours (or every break at work) just to get through the day. I was using 4-5 sheets each time and they would turn completely clear! It was so gross. Needless to say, I'm now back on the pill.
