Default I cannot believe this happened to me...(BIG VENT)

I took Cytotec last week because the baby had died 3 weeks prior and there was no sign of any bleeding at all. It worked....I passed what I thought was everything by Friday morning. Saturday I had some cramping...I took tylenol and went to bed. Woke up at 4 am in INTENSE pain....also had a temp of 100. I figured I'd just take some tylenol and see how things went, since my instructions said only to go in if the fever was over 101. 5 min after taking the Tylenol, I began to throw up. I literally could not stop...I was retching up nothing. I hurt worse than the actual miscarriage. So I got DH up, and told him I needed to go in to the Emergency room. He was cranky and pissed but I made him get up and get DS ready and take me in. When we got there I felt like I was going to faint standing up...there wasn't anybody waiting right at the desk at 5am...so I once again had to convince him to please let me SIT DOWN and just check me in and I'd get up when someone was at the window. He kept apologizing to the nurse for my inability to stand up at the window when she came out....she just told him to take DS home and she would take care of me. And thank GOD, she did. I got Nubain and some IV phenergan pretty quick, and before anyone did a pelvic exam.

It wound up that there was a clot blocking my cervix and I had a uterine infection. They called in the OB team and I had a D&C that morning. Lost about 1/2 liter of blood. The doctor who did my surgery told DH it was a good thing we didn't wait even a few more hours to come in since I was on the verge of full-on sepsis. I had to stay in the hospital overnight with 3 kinds of IV antibiotics.

But, on Sunday morning all I was to DH was a big PITA.

I am so sorry for your loss and your experience. It all sounds very scary. And if you were a PITA it probably saved your life.

I am at a loss for words, but wanted to lend my support.

Hugs,
-Tia

I'm so glad you insisted on going to the ER! You can deal with your DH later when you're physically and emotionally ready. Just rest up (((Hugs)))

I'm so sorry for your loss and your scary trip to the ER. Thank goodness you went when you did.

Here I confess: when my DH had kidney stones in June 2002, he moaned all morning and I was somewhat annoyed. (It was a Sunday.) I just didn't realize how serious it was and how horrible it felt. We wound up going to the ER, where he was treated. I STILL feel guilty about how I reacted, 4 years later. I will never NOT take him seriously again when he complains about pain or discomfort. I am sure your DH feels horrible right now.

I hope you feel better soon. ((hugs)) Sorry for your loss. I hope your dh realizes how serious it could have been and changes his attitude. Take care of yourself the best you can.

That's scary. I'm soo sorry to hear about what you have been through. I hope you are feeling better now. I may be taking Cytotec this weekend to induce a m/c as it has been 3 weeks now since I had an ultrasound which showed no heartbeat and then 2 weeks since I had another one to confirm it and I've still got PG symptoms and have had no spotting, bleeding, and very little cramping. I took Cytotec with my last m/c but it didn't cause me to bleed or cramp but this time around, i'm almost scared to take it.

Thank you all for the support. I am feeling better, still exhausted but my doc thinks that is because my HCG was 700 on Tuesday- 9 days after d&c. DH and I are working through it OK now.

I am wondering what will happen once the hcg finally bottoms out....will I get AF? Ovary pain from the corpus luteum finally going away?

Isadora- I have no regrets about taking the Cytotec. It helped give me a sense of closure to know that the pregnany was really over. I could have had that infection from a routine D&C had I gone that route instead. You can even have that happen with natural miscarriage. The one thing I will say, is that hCG levels peak at 8-10 weeks. Mine was probably over 100,000 and maybe 200,000 at the time I used the Cytotec. If you are that far along, I would not recommend waiting it out....it could take 2 months for hormone levels that high to drop enough to allow natural miscarriage.
