I started spotting 20 days ago and after about a week and a bit it got heavier and then after that I started having clots normal sized ones though, now the clots are slowed down but my period is even heavier!
why is it getting worse??
I saw my RE but that was because it started getting worse and he said don't worry about it, its normal for women with pcos.
It's like its a normal period but instead of 2 days light 2 days heavy 1 day light like normal with me it's like a week light week and a half heavy 1 week really heavy or something..
has anyone had this?
the women spoke to that have had long bleeds say its usually medium the whole time without many clots and it stays the same flow is that true??
I'm worried
EDIT : I've not had my period in 4 months this is the first time
before the last 4 months it was mostly normal

My sis is practically a non stop bleeder and has been dealing with it for the last couple of years. She wasnt like that before but everything is okay. Have you started any new medications? It could be that the pcos symptom of irregular periods is rearing its uglyhead now.

Heavy periods are also one of the many symptoms of hypothyroidism...HOWEVER, I think your period is the way it is because you went so long between periods. It sounds like your uterine lining just kept building up and now it's all being shed.
If it gets too heavy, call your doc. You also might want to be on the lookout for symptoms of anemia from such a heavy period.

I had my thyroid tested and it was completely normal so it's not that thank god!
I was wondering if maybe it is so long because it wasn't very heavy for quite a while so it is taking a long time to shed everything
I just think it would be weird for it to be a new symtom of the pcos because I am loosing weight and becoming healthier that's why I think it is AF but it's going nuts
I used to have 6 day REALLY heavy periods and this one isn't nearly as heavy so could that be why it is so long?

I had a similar situation in July. I spotted for the whole month, then went to the endo in Aug and she said my lining was at 12 and it should be at 4-5, so she gave me a shot to induce a period. Well she sure did induce my period because I bled for the whole month of Aug. I called the endo and went back in and the lining was at 4, so it did its job, but I didn't feel well the whole month of Aug. She put me on BCP's for 2 months to "regulate" my period and this month I actually had a "normal" period on my own.
Good luck to you and you might want to call the dr again to be sure. Also, watch out for the possible anemia.
I am already anemic :S I've always been! but it hasn't gotten any worse with this period!
it's just so weird to me because my AF was totally normal since I found out I had pcos (I missed AF for 3 months when I was DX)
I've never been on any med's and I'm loosing weight and stuff!
my doc thinks i am bleeding like this because it's been 3 months since my last period, I am gonna call him next week if it's not gone yet but he doesn't want to give me anything because I have testing to do and the med's will effect it he says.. i dunno i just hate this!!

I think some women who get heavy periods due to not having them much ie PCOS...sometimes get D & C 's done every now and then.
Which is just they sedate you and then a short process of taking all the lining out so as the periods are not heavy for a while and you are less likey to get uterine cancer .
i went ont he pil tried different types of the pill didnt work made it worse \(it didnt agree with me it may u)
but i went on the contraceptive injection and my life has tranformed from bad cramps bleeding pain to relaxed stomch no bleeding etc
