Points: 872.80 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 872.80 | I could really use your insight... I've had a series of problems which have gone largely undiagnosed, and I keep coming back to some sort of insulin issue/possible pcos. I am going to write a list of my symptoms and ask if any of you, from your experience can tell me if you've had or not had these symptoms. (I KNOW nobody can diagnose, but my dr. seems fairly clueless..ive been to her back and forth for a year, and before I can afford a different one would just like to have a little more info to stand on..so I'd really really really appreciate anyones advice/opinions..)
-hypothyroid
-raynaud's syndrome
-ibs (alternating going too much and not at all..)
-unlike most of you, my period comes to often (is that possible with pcos??) though my period comes every 2 weeks, my hormone levels are fairly normal...thoughts?
-major carb issues (i gain and lose weight rapidly, a few days w/ too high carbs and I look like I've put on 15 pounds.. is this common w/ you guys??) I have a normal me and a very bloated fat me. most of my weight is in belly and thighs/butt
-crazy random bloating where I look pregnant
-excessive hairyness (blah!)
-possibly of interest - my doc put me on metformin for a month and i looked the best i have in years..lost weight quickly, but then she took me off for who knows what reason...(she just wanted to *try* it not get me dependent on it........) does my success on met mean anything?
does this sound like possible pcos at all? im so lost and desperate to feel normal. any insight whatsoever would truly be a blessing.

Secondly nearly anything seems possible with PCOS. But have you had your levels tests via blood test?
I mean the things you mentioned surely 'sound' like PCOS, some of them I certainly experience myself but it could be caused by something else, but still be hormone related.
If you haven't had you blood work done I'd start there.

My Mood: Points: 3,795.13 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 3,795.13 | I would find a NEW doctor.....You did well on the Metformin and then she took you off!!! Half of your symptoms sound exactally like PCOS, but the other half I'm don't know...doesn't mean they don't mean PCOS it means that I'm not as educated on all of this stuff yet either. Anyway, the symptoms like weight gain in the middle, putting on weight really fast on high carbs, and the hair all sound PCOS. Keep postin and keep reading threads. Check out signs and symptoms.....you'll read A LOT of "different" symptoms people have. Good luck!

Points: 2,442.40 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 2,442.40 | Just considering your symptoms, it sounds a lot like lupus or perhaps type 2 diabetes. Try to get that blood work done to figure out what this is. Your doc just willy nilly took you off your meds? hmmm...Want me to hit her? But truly, stress these issues with her.
Also, what has caused your raynaud's? Does she know? You really do want to stress this too because it can often be connected to rheumatoid arthrtis and or lupus (sometimes diabetes) which are consistant with your other symptoms. This isn't to say that women with pcos don't have raynaud's too. Although, there hasn't really been any established connection between the two. Good luck in getting the help you need and many blessings to you.
