Unhappy I cried my eyes out

Ok, so like the past week I've had the flu and feeling terrible on top of the way I normally do. I'm getting ready for work and start to pluck and get so angry and emotional about it, that for the first time ever I get a razor to my chin. I'm scared I made a mistake and am just wondering if anyone else shaves instead of plucking. The hair was already stubbly so not sure if I screwed up or not. I am just so tired of this. Women are NOT supposed to have facial hair. I keep hoping meds will help all this crap. And if so I'm looking forward to the day when I get on some. Thanks for listening to me rant.

I know how you feel. All the plucking and pulling and bleaching seems worthless. Itll all grow back in a day or two. I hate it. I feel like a freak.

i use my hubbys electric razor 2 times a day or so. sometimes when the electric one is not availible i have some disposable ones, but i worry about knicking and redness with them.

i know what you mean. its not supposed to be this way with women, is it. i hope we learn to make peace with it, at least, on our way to health.

I pluck the thicker/darker hairs, then shave the light/blonde ones. Have you tried Vaniqa? It's a cream you put on twice a day under your moisturizer, etc. I've been using it since mid-December, and I've noticed that my hair's growing in a lot more slowly. I could probably even skip a day of plucking, but psychologically, I'm not ready for that!

It costs about $60 for a tube that lasts two months. My insurance wouldn't cover it, so it's out of pocket for me. But it's definitely worth it to feel more confident.

I tried Vaniqa a couple years ago. I used it for 1 month and saw no change so I quit. Maybe I didn't use it long enough. I don't know. The only time I have ever seen a change was after I had a tumor removed from my right ovary. For about a month the hair growth slowed a great deal and I was ecstatic. But of course it went right back to being the way it was afterwards. I have a tumor on my left ovary I need to have removed. Maybe I'll get relief again for a month.

it's really frustrating to have to go through all of this crap. the razor seems so much more convenient on a bad day and it's okay, because that tale about hair growing back darker after you shave it is just an urban legend. it does grow back faster though, because when you pluck it you take it out by the roots and it takes longer to come back. yeah, shaving is so much easier.

I shave the course hair on my chin and moustache. I use clippers on the lighter, softer side hair. I've never gotten any rash, razor burn from shaving. Up until a couple weeks ago I had to do it every morning. And in the evening if I was going out. But I've been on dexamethasone along with my spiro and glucophage for a few weeks and I'm really starting to see good results. The spiro/glucophage combo alone was not helping me.

I used to pluck, but then I started stealing my DH's electric razor and found it alot quicker and easier for me. I do get bumps sometimes, but they just match the ones on my face!

Christopher got me a lady Remmington for Christmas, and the bumps seem to be less. I've been using Nutrogena soap too, so maybe that is helping.

Hang in there dear, and remember we're in this together!

Hugs
Julie

I understand completely. I dont do it everyday but i do use an electric razor. i used to pluck until someone made a remark about the "beard" i was growing when i was in high school. i quickly switched to cream hair removers but after a while they seemed to stop working. so i started using an electric shaver around the same time i met hubby and have used one ever since. it is a womens one so i feel more feminine lmao (although it is not a womanly feeling when you are shaving your chin) but i figure if i get a smooth feel, then it is worth it.
i definately get upset and angry though that hair even grows there cuz i figure i am a woman i should not have hair on my chin. i wont let hubby touch or kiss my neck unless i have shaved first. i dont want him to feel like he is kissing a man. it sucks but i have learned not to get too mad as i am doing all i can. hopefully some wonderful drug will come out to make it go away forever. until then lets just keep smiling and knowing that we are strong and beautiful women who can get through the worst and still keep going.
