Default I'd pull it out if it wasn't already falling out...

hey there everyone...

I have been on Met since March of 2003, and just today began taking Marvelon again. I had been on BCPs after the birth of my daughter until May of 2003, when I decided I didn't want to be one them anyone. My hair has thinned so much during this time that I find myself even trying to do a comb over to conceal the loss. My question is this, now that I am back to taking the BCP, will the hair grow back on its own? If not, is there anything I can take to make it grow other than using Rogaine and Spiro? I've read much about using Rogaine and Spiro, but I was wondering if there were any other choices that were effective at regrowing hair. Its a horrible problem, and soon I'll be looking for work again...I almost feel like getting weaves put in my hair so that at least it looks like I have a normal amount of hair. Any information would be appreciated...thanks.

I'm using BCPs, met and spiro. I had a major shed in the year after I stopped BCPs (so that my hormones could be tested....I stopped for 5 months) I've been back on for over a year and seen no improvement. I haven't been on the met and spiro combo long enough to see if it will help.

BTW, last year I was so frustrated with my hair that I was literally ready to pull it all out....so you're not alone! (Instead, I cut it really short....though, now I'm trying to grow it out again..)

I SO understand about wanting to literally pull your hair out. In my lowest lows, I have pulled it in frustration, kind of like, what the F&^K, it's all falling out anyway, I'll just speed it up. No one understands how traumatic it is unless they experience it.

Not to rain on your idea, but weaves (additions) tend to pull on your hair and can cause further hair loss. Have you thought about having your hair weaved (as in color)--it plumps up the cuticle and makes your hair look thicker. Also, some products can do wonders. I have little tricks, like wearing it poofed up on top high and then a little barette. I had to stop wearing bangs, which is how I look best, because the hole in the front became impossible to hide. There are some cute and pretty easy little barette pony tail things that have hair--I've seen people wearing them out.

I'm on met now and am hoping this will finally work.

good luck
ama
