Unhappy I despise my doctor and feel terrible

I saw a doctor in late August and was diagnosed.

I DESPISE that woman. She was rude and condescending to me and I am not entirely certain that she is qualified. (She was the only person I could get to see me on short notice before I left for college.) She only ran a blood test and mentioned an ultrasound, but decided it wasn't needed because she put me on Yaz.

I feel terrible taking Yaz. I feel very depressed all the time. Seriously, completely, and unbelievably terrible. I still have pains, and though I am eating less and exercising more than ever before (simply because of my new life at college) I haven't lost any weight.

If anyone could recommend some other doctor in the Virginia Beach area or other treatments (I can't handle Yaz anymore!) it would be much appreciated!

Thank you!

Hi. I am sorry you had such a horrible experience. I don't know of any doctors in your area, but may I suggest you finding a different one near your school. There is so many different kinds of BCP you can be on. Call and find a new doctor, get your records transferred and see someone else. If you got your yearly pap, you shouldn't have to get another one. Hopefully, depending on your insurance, it should cover another visit (since it is a problem visit or maybe even a medication review). It might take you a bit to get in there, but it will be worth it. Maybe your school health center will have some suugestions for good doctors in the area.

I am sorry you had to go through all of that trouble.

Good luck!

((Hugs)) I would try to find a good gyno and a good endocrinologist in your area. There are plenty of other BCPs that you could try. Also, there are other ways to help regulate your cycle (metformin, provera/prometrium, etc). I think the main thing for you is to find a doctor close to you that you feel comfortable with. Good luck. College life is hard enough without PCOS in it

I personally think YAZ and all BC is BS and unhealthy to the body. Theres way too bad things concerning them to be worth it. I cant believe doctors can't find a better way to prevent pregnancy...but they can continue perfecting Viagra. Good luck with your DR. issue..most doctors arent very concerned and loving so thats why when you find a nice one who actually listens, you hold onto them.

*sends a hug*

Sorry to hear your story. My doctor wasn't rude but he joked about PCOS and I didn't really see the fun.
The said thing is that birth control is one of the things that might help. But if you can't take it or don't want to you don't have to. It only control's the symptoms of PCOS not curing the real problem. I can't eat birth control because of a blood mutation.

Seek another doctor, demand a ultrasound (even if they can diagnose you without one it is good to have done one). There are some other things they can give you but not so much I'm afraid.

Good Luck!

Thanks for all the help. I can go see a new doctor after the first because of my new insurance, but he or she has to be in the military insurance provider's group of doctors.

This woman was soooo terrible. The entire time she completely dismissed what I said and made mean comments about my weight. She is one of those doctors who thinks I ate too many cookies when I was little and caused this myself, which I clearly didn't.

She didn't mention anything about endocrinologists or anything and said I would only need medication for my insulin levels if I wanted to get pregnant. I get sick from my blood sugar all the time, so this seems ridiculous to me.

You are all awesome for helping me out so much.

Even from doctors who knows better you will get the weight remarks. =( I guess they are right in saying that weigh loss is important and can help but they don't really understand how hard it is to get there. Not even at the weight clinic they do. I felt so alone because I did have all this odd eating habits. I ate fairly normal and still I am big.

So it's a real blessing with soul cysters where everyone really understands your problems.

It took me a long time to come to grips with the fact that this was MY HEALTH and I should choose the right person for me. I was an idiot to think that I had to stay with someone who wasn't treating me well.

Hope you find the right person for you!

GIVE THAT DOCTOR THE BOOT!
-No doctor should cause their patient to feel bad for ANY reason... that is just awful! My doctor gave me a choice between Yaz Yasmin and Ortho tri cyclen lo (or however its spelled) She said they are all good for pcos because of drosperi... something or another. I can imagine it seriously sucks to go to a doctor... possibly someone you have never even met and have to confide in them and rely on them and then they treat you like your fears and feelings are unimportant... good luck
