Default I Ditched My Psychologist Today!

I was seeing one through work, I agreed to go and try it out whilst I was waiting for an appointment via my own doctor.

Now I tried it twice, but it was really not for me, he was a nice guy don’t get me wrong and in just two visits with him I learnt quite a bit about myself… but I was concerned that everything I was saying to her perhaps was not as confidential as it should be seeing as he was employed through work….. so I decided to cancel the remaining appointments…

I have come a long way in just 16 weeks and I have learnt a great deal about myself and my condition… whilst I think seeing a Psychologist is good, I didn’t feel comfortable with him….

Can it take a few until I find one I do trust perhaps?

I'm sorry that you didn't find what you needed through him and yes it can take a few before you find the right one for you. But just to put your mind at ease it doesn't matter who he works for as long as he is licensed he is legally bound by confidentiality. I hope you find the right doctor for you.

ETA: I'm sorry I just noticed that you are in the UK and I have no idea about what the laws are there, so completely disregard any of my references to that.. I still hope you find exactly who will be right for you.

Alison:

It does take a while to find the one right for you. My suggestion is to schedule a couple appoinments with different therapists & then decide which one, if any, you would like to see again. I have been in therapy since 1995 & moved quite a lot so, trying to find new therapists has been a constant for me. It is even more difficult when you are feeling depressed. So, try to find one as soon as you can so that your therapist can be there for you if/when you go through a rough patch.

Take Care.
