Default I don't know what to expect....

I hope this is not asking too much---- but at this point I'm hanging in limbo waiting to see what is going on with my baby. I have some bleeding around the sac and my hcg numbers are going up but not doubling as they should. I am not cramping or spotting--- but if I do lose the baby, I just really don't know what to expect. Did most of you spot and the bleeding get heavier- or was it heavy all at once....... did any of you not bleed at all and go right for d/c ??

If your numbers are still going up - if I were in your place I would definitely NOT do a D&C until I knew for sure that the baby was dead and not coming out. I couldn't live with myself constantly thinking there was a chance it could have lived and I did the D&C anyway.

I spotted brown for a week before I miscarried, the day I miscarried I started bleeding quite red and heavy, clotting and fetal tissue came out that day, and then I bled red like a heavy period for about 5 more days and then spotted lightly for another few. I was 5w5d on the day I started bleeding real heavy and the fetal tissue came out so we figured the baby died within the week earlier.

You seem to have more hope than I did at this point... I know many women have had babies even though the numbers didn't double as expected as long as they kept going up. Seems your little guy is hanging in there despite the bleeding around the sac. Try what the other girls said, drink lots of extra fluids, keep restful, on your left side they say is best, and try immersing yourself in water here and there just in case it may take some of the pressure off the baby (who knows). Also - progesterone? did you mention sometime before that a friend had given you progesterone or was that someone else...? Keep it up if so...

As shenacat says, don't do anything drastic until you know something for sure. HCG varies widely and 15% of all NORMAL pr have slow rising HCG (though usually the rise is at least by 50% every 3 days under 1200 and every 4 over that). Anyhow, unless HCG starts to plateau or fall, I wouldn't let anyone touch me if I were you. Hang in there and see what happens. You are in my prayers.

Celtra,

I am very sorry for what you are going thru. There is nothing worse than not knowing what is going on and just having to wait.

To answer your question about what to expect. I spotted so lightly at first I wasn't sure I was even seeing blood. I would see very faint pink/brown one time and nothing for a day or two. This went on for almost a week. Then things got more red and a little heavier--no doubt there was blood. I had an u/s done and everything looked good we even heard a heartbeat. I would have light days and heavier days. My doctor was convinced I wouldn't m/c (stats say less than 2% m/c rate after hearing a heartbeat) When I m/ced I knew I did, the cramping was awful, much much worse than AF and the bleeding was heavy and fast. I guess from the start of bleeding to m/c was 13 days. I had a natural m/c and never had a D&C.

I wish you luck and hope not to see you stay on this board--but if you do, we are here for you.

Kim
