I dont know that the glucose can really tella nything. Fasting insulin is the maint est in my mind. Normal is under 17.. 17 and above meeans you have high insulin. I had a 22.. but anything over 10, which most doctor don't know, indicates higher than normal insulin.. and should be treated. I went to like 10 doctors, three endocrinologists, and none of them treated me even though I have high choleseterol, super high triglycerides, acne, hair growht, hair loss, obese, and I have no periods. The main sign of PCOS--besides tests if not having periods regularly. If you have like 6 or less a year.. I have like 4, with no birth control pills ( i am on them now..and always have them)< then that should be enough for PCOS.. when you donj't have a period you get cysts. You don't have to have high insulin to have PCOS. ANyway, I had drs give me bcp and yasmin, but no one would give me glucophage, except one endocrinologist. But he was too far away and it made me sick, and i never went back..so i went to someone closer.. when i realized i started off too high and id be willing to take it. But he said, other testing didnt show anything abnormal or something.. anyway.. so I got sick of it and now I order everything online at inhouse pharmacy.. I get diane=35, aldactone, and i am taking just 2 mg of avandia and 500 of glucophage because I'm afraid to take more because of liver damage since I don't have a dr monitoring me. If you want a diagnosis for sure youll have to get a vaginal ultrasound--but I refuse to go to an gyn. But you should get your fasting insulin checked, and not having periods should be enough, but it takes several drs to find one willing.. so youll just have to get copies of all your tests and go to gyns or endocrnologsts that will give it to you. Seriously. If I were going to do it again I'd call before I made an appt to find one that is an expert in PCOS. |
