I Don't Understand

First I want to say that I love this website!
Here is my problem. I am IR dx's in July 02. Had my bloodwork done and at that time thyroid was a little low but in the "normal" range. I just have new bloodwork December 02 and the results were Free T4 was 1.4, Free T3 was 3.0 and Insulin was 4. These results suprised my doctor and she asked if it would be okay with me if she consulted with a endo doctor. I said sure and this new doctor said I need to have a "thyroid scan and uptake test". I am scheduled to go to the hospital on 01/15/02 to take a pill and then 01/16/02 to have the scan done. Has anyone ever had this done? Do these results sound familiar to anyone? Why would there be such a change in 6 months? Do I have I hypo or hyper thyorid? I get confused between the two. My mom is not PCOS or IR but has a HYPOthyroid. I have been reading a little on threads but I don't think I fully understand. Also the dotor worried me since she was so concerned.
