But. I just went into one of the threads here and the Google Ads were for pregnancy clothes and portraits ... which is inappropriate, I feel, on the pregnancy loss board. Is there anyway these can be filtered?
I think that this has come up before. I *think* Kat said she has no control over the adds.
I agree it is inappropriate though.
I'm sorry you have to see those adds.
Pam
This sucks. I've never looked at them before! Thanks, Tetley!!!
Just kidding - I do wish there were some way to at least not have them in this forum. I'd rather have no ads than insensitive ads.
I got a box of Enfamil in the mail last Friday - two months AFTER I'd asked to be removed from their mailing list! I'd just had a great therapy session, then I came home and spent the next day in bed!

Viv, a week after Gabriel was born (back in Nov!) I got a free can of formula in the mail! I would have only been 21-22 weeks pregnant!!! What the heck are they thinking anyway?
I donated it to the local crisis pregnancy center. So that at least *something* good could come out of this.

Speaking of formula...I got some 6 months after asking to be removed from their mailing list AFTER we moved in to our house that they didn't even have the address for & 8 months after my m/c! I gave it to my SIL best friend (that none the less, was due the same exact month as me & now lives on the street w/ her baby...)
I'm sorry Tetley, I just ignore all the adds. I don't think there's any way Kat can filter them or take them off of 1 forum.

If you can, you ladies that keep getting formula, call those companies and start at THE TOP!! Don't talk to some one who just answers the phone. I think that is absolutely terrrible that it keeps happening. I'll call them for you if you want me too!! I'll get you off the lists!!!
Hugs!!!
Pam
I got formula from three different companies.....ALL the week I was due.....one exactly on my due date.....I didnt know what to do with it so I just put it in the nursery with all the rest of the baby things I have no use for.
A month after Sarah's death, we recieved a congratulations from the state senator on her birth. It was very hard to see, I just pitched it. We kept recieving free diapers and junk for a while. The hardest thing of all though really was that two days after her death, we got her baby/hospital pictures in the mail.
I still run across things, though for the most part I have tried to make sure everything stopped. It is so hard but what else are we to do?

I believe the ads reflect one or more words that they find in the messages. If pregnancy is mentioned, which it often is in this forum, it can get the ads to reflect that.
The formula and diapers do become a big problem. I'm sorry we've all had to deal with that.

I never noticed the ads, either. I still have the formula I got in the hospital sitting up on my closet shelf. I know I can find someone to use it.
Just before I picked up Anna's birth and death certificates at the town hall (back in November), I got in the mail a congratulations letter to the newest citizen of our town. A little slow on the catch up I guess, but when I went to get her birth/death certificates, they had actually just gotten her death certificate in the office, and I guess that's why it went out-they didn't know. It made me sad, but since I have only a few momentos of her short life, I hung on to it. I put it in her scrap book.

Here in the UK there's the Bounty Scheme, so all baby/pregnancy related promotions and advertising pretty much go through this system. If someone loses a baby then the midwife informs the scheme and everything stops. There was this one company, Vertbaudet, which i'd signed up to separately. They kept sending me me glossy catalogues with beautiful babies on the cover and I kept asking for my name to be taken off the list. Each time I was told it was. Finally, the customer services manager admitted they couldn't take my name off the system for 8 weeks. I was so angry i got the home addresses of all the company directors off the internet and wrote to them. They were so freaked they called a special meeting. But nothing happened to change their policy.
This is horrible that so many of us have been through this...
No ladies, you aren't super-sensitive. You lost your babies and are trying to cope with those losses.
By the way, a friend of mine gave me this information (for US ladies).
Quote:
This is the address that was given to me to stop the baby mail. I hope this helps. To be removed from the mailing solicitations send a letter requesting removal to:
Mailing Preference Service PO Box 9008 Farmingdale, NY 11735
For telephone solicitation removal:
Mailing Preference Service Phone Preference PO Box 9014 Farmingdale, NY 11735
She said that it may take several weeks to get it all to stop.
