When it comes to TTC I would like to start trying in July after my next ultrasound to see if my cysts have gone away or shrunk with my new BCPs. The thing is I will only be 20 years old and I dont know if my doctor will support me with that... However my boyfriend is 26 and we do talk about it alot. I would like to start early because of the chances that it will take a few years to even get pregnant. How about you??

Here's how it works ladies... On the day where you first see red blood (AF), this is cycle day 1 or CD 1. Spotting does not count here!! It has to be red flow to be CD 1. The rest is easy. CD 14 is 14 days after you start AF.
If you have a 28 day cycle then ovulation is typically CD 14 but this will vary depending on the length of your cycle. Ovulation is typically when you see clear stretchy fluid. When you can stretch it between your fingers without it breaking apart, then that's usually a sign of ovulation. Just white stuff does not indicate ovulation.
With low dose hormones, you CAN ovulate some months. However, the birth control pills counteract that because they keep the lining of your uterus very thin so that if fertilization were to occur, implantation would not be possible and the embryo would die. BCP's also keep your vaginal mucus very thick so that makes it very hard for the sperm to get through your cervix. So don't flip out of you do ovulate on low dose BCP's. That's not unheard of but just be assured that they also work to prevent pregnancy in the ways I just described so you'll be ok.
I hope this helps you! If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!
PS- I wouldn't recommend trying to conceive so quickly because you just might surprise yourself and get pregnant right away! A lot of cyster do not have trouble getting pregnant at all so be careful!!

bcps are made of two hormones (typcially): estrogen and progestin
Progestin is the synthetic version of a natural hormone called progesterone. Progesterone is the hormone that heats up your body for BBT charting, and lowers your estrogen to keep your period at bay for the 5-7 days your body can get pregnant.
Because you are on the pill- you will have similar symptoms to ovulating, even though you're not. However if you were to ovulate, but were taking your pills everyday correctly- then your cervical mucus should be thick enough to prevent sperm from reaching the egg, and the linning of your uterus should be too thin for an embryo to attach itself for pregnancy.
Hope that helps!

The best book I ever read.. Taking Charge of Your Fertility I learned soooo much from this book! There is a lot of good info that they don't teach in health class. You can learn how to chart your cycles, find out when you ovulate, best times to BD when you're TTC and all that good stuff. If I ever have daughters, the understanding menstrual cycle chapters will be required reading when they get old enough! It's good to know what's going on with your body, then you know what's normal for you so you will know when something is wrong!
