Default I feel like crying...

I was diagnosed with PCOS two years ago- or should I say, I diagnosed myself and asked for the right tests. I have had no cycle for over two years now and have weight gain and hair growth in wierd places. I know you all must have this too.

It wasn't that bad before, but now that I am ttc, I am very frustrated because I don't ovulate. I feel so much less of a woman. I have never talked to other women with PCOS before. I am about 35 lbs overweight and have recently lost 10 lbs. on Byetta. I still ahae no cycle.

It's wierd that the one thing I hated when I was younger (my period) is the one thing I am dying to have now. My heart hurts. My husband doesn't understand, and none of my friends have ever heard of PCOS, so they don't get it either. Oh, and my two best friends are pregnant now too.....

Anyone have any luck getting a period on Byetta?

I just wanted to write to find some people to relate to.

Have you tried metformin? It's what helped me gain back not only my period but ovulation capabilities (you can have your period w/o ovulating and rarely ovulate and not have a period). PM me. I'm here if you need to talk.

The best treatment for PCOS is low carb diet, exercise, and an insulin sensitizing med (usually metformin). It's important to make sure you are on a high enough dose. Byetta is a relatively new drug and is for weight loss only. Many women with PCOS are thin or average weight and don't really need to lose weight. However, for those that are overweight, losing some can help. I would suggest seeing a reproductive endocrinologist and getting metformin. Good luck.

I know how you feel. My sister-in-law just told me she is pregnant. All I could do was cry. I have been trying for 2 years to conceive with no luck. I am not ir and can not take clomin becuase it makes my cyst worse and rupture. I am also overweight and feel less like a woman. I take meds for my blood pressure and depression, though that doesn't seem to help my mood swings lately. If you ever need to talk or cry send me an email.
