Default I feel like giving up. Help!

I have been taking 1,000mg (yes - that's all!) of Met Extended Release for 5 months now, and I have felt like sh*t EVERY SINGLE DAY. I am constantly nauseated, I have unpredictable bouts of diarrhea that I cannot control, and I can't focus on anything else. I always have the shakes, I can barely eat (which has lead to a 30 lb weight loss - but the price isn't worth it), and that brings my blood sugar down low low low. When I eat, I eat properly, and I keep trying different foods to see if any one thing has a different effect. Nope. All food affects me the same way. I just get to the point where I start crying because I feel like I have had the stomach flu for almost a half a year now.

Could it be that Met just isn't for me? Could it be that my dose is too high? 'Cause y'all are taking like twice as much! If so, what were your side effects and what did you do about controlling your IR some other way (or with a different med)?

I keep thinking, "My body will get used to it. I'll be fine in a week or two." but it never happens.

Help!

I hated Met...

Chromium Piconilate did for me what Met was supposed to.

I'm sorry you still aren't feeling well.

It shouldn't take this long to get used to it...what has the dr said?

Hang in there darlin'!

I started on 1500mgs once a day,I had the same reactions. I called my doctor, he said to lower the dosage til I get used to it then raise it back up. I'm now on 1500mg again feeling alot better. Right now I'm actually thinking of raising my dosage to 2000mg. You should talk to your doctor.

Did you feel any better on 500 or have you always taken 1000? I'm curious what your Dr has said about it too. I hope you can figure something out because feeling like that every day is no good!

srry to hear u r having such a hard time with met .
i have been on 2550mg of met for a lil over a month and some days i am ok and other days i am so sick .1 thing i have notice is that u do have to take the met in the middle of your meal to not feel so sick after wards.but u being on met for 5 months leads me to think that the side effects should have lessened by now . have you mintioned this to your dr?hope you feel better soon.

Hi ladies!

I feel so bad for you... I was just about to post a message about this kind of issue, but I feel like an idiot because I just started Met last Friday night. It seems like every other day the symptoms bother me. But this morning I had to leave work because I was so unbearably sick. I only take 500mg per day (my doctor wants me to slowly up my dosage to 1500mg per day). I woke up with this horrible migraine, then my stomach got really upset (nausea, diarhea), and I got really dizzy, confused, can not focus, and blurry vision. I started to cry at work. I hate missing work, but I feel like crap. Sorry, I didn't mean to make it about ME, ME, ME.

Please let me know if you started gradually or if you just started right at 1000mgs. I sure hope you feel back to normal soon. I am so scared for you. I have only felt this way for 1 day and I am crying, I can not imagine almost 1 year of feeling this way. My heart goes out to you. I will keep you in my thoughts. Please call you doctor ASAP.

Bless you. Hugs

I started at 500mg and stayed there for about 3 weeks. I was just getting used to it by the time it was upped. I have tapered down myself - I'm taking 500mg a night until I can call my doctor tomorrow.

How come all the bad crap happens on weekends?

How much Chromium per day do you take? I am taking Met and the numbers are going the wrong way.

I started at 200mcg a day and did that for months. I recently started taking 400mcg a day. I felt a difference and it took a bit of getting used to. You always want to take it with food, otherwise you blood sugar may dip too low.

Try it and see if it works for you, talk to your dr.

For me it is just a better fit...Met made me feel horrid, similar to what flight has described and worse.

I may asked about the Chrominum when I see the Endo. I had a allergic reaction will on Met, Spiro, and Yaz, and don't know which one caused it. I think the Met made my blood sugar too low and I just can't keep taking off work for some medication. I got a life to live and I don't want to be lived in the bathroom and bed.
