Default I feel like i am going downhill with met!!

This is only my fifth month taking met and i understand it can take up to six, but i feel like i am going on a downfall. The first month of met i was shocked i got my AF only a few weeks late.. then feburary it came only a week late. March came right on time, to the exact day. Okay, now i am thinking great im pretty much regulated, may was a few days late then april was 10 days late and now this month i was due anywhere from 10-19 days ago!! Bah, sorry for the rant i just feel like i should be getting closer and closer each month not further away. What makes me fraustrated is this is how my sprial down started which lead to my Dx of PCOS. I would get my periods later and later until they overlapped the dates. Thanks for letting me vent and any info would be much appreciated.

Rachel

You're on 1000mg a day? Have you thought about maybe increasing your dosage to see if that helps? I know how it can take forever and a day for met to work.

I would imagine that you need your dose increased to see max benefit. Also, not to be a downer, but met doesn't always regular everyone's cycles. It doesn't mine. I do think it benefits my PCOS in general, but as far as making me "regular" thats not the case. I have more AF, and more frequent, but definitely not a nice regular cycle. W/o met I probably have 1-3 AF a year, maybe a few more here and there. With met I have cycles ranging from 30-60 days and everywhere in between.

Thanks guys, those are both good points. The problem is my endo is an a** and I would have to make an appt with him just to speak to him to ask if i can up my dosage Sorry im looking for a new dr. at the moment mine is just too insensetive. Bah it is just fraustrating because the doctors say "This will help give it time" and not everyones body takes meds the same way. I am currently 20 days late. This is the most late i have been in a while!! I am thinking about talking a HPT just to be positive if not im gonna call my doc about provera i have some i never ended up talking previously. Just dont know what to think any more. Every month i feel pregnant, this was the only month i actually havent been having symptoms until a few days ago. I did spot (barley any) on may 11th, but i am pretty sure that is due to my cyst rupturing. I started feeling sick to my stomach a couple days ago and yesterday i felt some mild cramping. Could a cyst rupturing cause the delay of my AF?? Just a thought lol. I guess preg test are good ways to bring on my period, last month i was very late took two and boom AF shows. Sorry i needed to vent a bit, feel a little better lol.

Hmmm, are you sure you weren't O'ing on May 11th?

I would definitely take an HPT if you are 20 days late. If it is negative I would just try to wait it out a while. I loathe taking Provera, so I wouldn't try to induce AF until you have to (maybe 30 days later or something). Not to mention, who knows what your hormones are doing and how adding Provera in to the mix will mess with them.

It think you should test. I went through this, my cycles had been pretty regular on met. I swore I was pmsing, I was like oh great my cycles are going screwy again. I got my bfp that day.

Thanks for the advice. I have been wanting to test, but every month i go through the same thing, one week late three negative HPT's. This has been the lastest i have been though. It is possible that i O'd late and that is why i spotted on may 11th, is makes sence. I spotted again today (again barely enough to notice ) i have been crampy today on and off as well. Sign of incoming period?!?! Who knows only time and a few HPTs will tell. Thanks again everyone, and i am def. still open for advice

Ooo, and i have heard how horrible Provera can be, that is why i am waiting. And your right my hormones are def. outta whack, i am moody, sensetive, all that good stuff.

Hey,

Apparently it can take a while, but i feel as though i need to go onto a higher dose perhaps 2000mg to get affects, I am going to mention to my endo when i see her next in September about inducing a period, I was really worried before as i havent had a period in so long but when i had a ultrasound my DR & endo said my lining was in the normal range, which kind of confuses me because surely the lining would have built up from 2 years of not having a period..

As for side effects they suck.. My get bad stomach pains sometimes and most days i feel like i have to be near to a toilet!! I am determined to stick with it though.. and am going to ask my endo for extended release as that might help. On the upside though i have lost around 10 pounds now, while being on met and on a GI diet while doing excersise although i havent been doing as much as i would like to!

I hope your AF starts to regulate properly soon!

& Sarah L - I have read many times 1500mg is what people in medical professions consider as the minimum effective dose in PCOS, i know some people can be different and everyones body will react to a dose that is right from there but i have even read somewhere as to somebody being on 2500mg daily!! Im hoping to up mine to 2000mg as i feel the dose i am on now isnt enough.

Kc_angel you went two years without having a period wow!!. . I havent ever expierenced that i can even imagine how fraustrated and emotional you must feel. I took an HPT Today after already peeing 8 times and drinking alot and it was neg. gonna take one in the morning JUST IN CASE, but i am about 99% sure that my body is just not cooperating with me . I bought some progesterone cream, have any of you had a good expierence with this?? Maybe you should try kc_angel, who knows. It was only 12.50 at Walmart. Bah, even though me and my DBF are not ttc we arent preventing and sometimes i wonder what would happen if it would just read positive =/. The time will come but hopefully i can just regulate my period enough to start trying next year, or two. hehe. Well one more test 2marrow i will try and then starts the progeterone cream. Thanks for all the help and support ladies, it is much appreciated.

And another thing is the s/e of met do suck but i have noticed being on XR Gulmetza (brand name) helps, i was originally on XR Met (generic) i def. have noticed the difference. I would talk to your doctor about that as well kc. Sarah, i would def. talk to your doctor about upping your dose as well. I thought my endo was crazy for ONLY having me on 1000mg, but 750?? It doesnt seem like enough IMO, then again i am not a doctor hehe. But it doesnt hurt to ask about it Good luck everyone.

Yes i definatly am going to ask about inducing a period.. I live in England so i dont think we can buy Progesterone cream here i think it may have to be prescribed by a doctor but im still not entirely sure that it is readily available so may have to opt for provera instead.

It is very frustrating and i just want a period so i can feel some what "normal" if you like.

I hope your body starts responding soon.. as do i mine!
