Im 18, and this afternoon I was diagnosed with PCOS. Its something that I thought i had a while back, and I know its stupid, but just for having thought it, I feel like me actually having it now is my fault...like i put the karma of the universe right on track for it. that and the way iv been living...I had insulin resistance problems when I was a kid and I dont know if this is happening because i stopped taking care of myself ( i feel guilty, and sad, and confused all at the same time. I dont know if the PCOS was going to happen anyway, or whether I put myself on this road ( i feel broken...
I have no idea if you not taking care of yourself can cause PCOS-- I haven't been diagnosed for very long, but I do know that some studies have found that if a family member has it then you are more at risk and sometimes people that are in good health seem to have PCOS. So I really don't think it's your fault and I definitely don't think that you thinking that you had PCOS made you get it. If you somehow did put yourself at risk for it then all you can do is make the best of it now and go ahead and enjoy life, but take care of yourself. Don't let it get to you! Message me if you want to talk.

Aww. Don't blame yourself.
Instead, use that energy to work on yourself now.
Now that you're diagnosed, it can't be helped that you got it, but you can fight it with everything you have. [:
Make sure that you regularly visit an OB/GYN, & that doctor will lead you to the best path in taking care of yourself.
I think the best thing to help with PCOS is exercise, so make sure to talk to your doctor about that as well.
It's not your fault, especially if you have family history.
Just take it as another stepping block in the path of life,
& use it to better yourself & educate others with your experience. :]
Take care.

I also feel like it's my own fault and I'm so annoyed with it! If only I hadn't stuffed myself with all the awful food and eaten healthy and I had been more active instead....ah well, but it's too late, so there's nothing else to do than to try and better it now good luck! And try not to be hard on yourself about it... 'cause been there, done that and... it certainly doesn't help! :S
girls im 19 and am a athlete, i am a competative figure skater and exercise and eat right and I have PCOS. They are unsure what causes it if it is genetic (passed down from your female relatives) or if you develope it due to hormonal imbalances. Honestly its not your fault girls it just happens to some women. Dont fret about it and get upset get active and positive about it, ok you have it but this is the eye opener to changing your life, you have not reached a dead end in life you just need to take another path now.
Keep positive girls

when i was diagnosed (and sometimes even now) i feel like it's my fault. or that i'm cursed and will never be as good as other women. i do know that none of that is true, and i honestly believe that this makes us stronger than other women. we know about taking care of ourselves and not taking things for granted. no one decided to give themselves PCOS, but when you are, you learn how to better yourself. it puts eating right and exercising a number one priority. it's normal to be upset when something like this is put on you, but now you must decide whether you're going to let it run your life or let you run your life. good luck
