Exclamation I feel like Linda Blair!

For the love of all that's good, someone offer me some insight, please!

I am a fitness instructor. I live and breathe by Dr. Mirkin's Good Food Book (ie: my cupboards are full of wheat berries, oat groats, and bulgar, my fridge is full of fresh fruits, veggies, etc.) I do not get out of breath running a mile or so (more than that, yes!) Except for my stomach pouch, I have what I am proud to say is a good, muscular body. I have never missed a period (except for the two times I was pregnant). I am VERY fertile.

But, since September, 2001, I have been nauseated (thus the Linda Blair), lightheaded, and TIRED. All of my blood tests are normal except for elevated: prolactin and DHEAs. Because of these, I was diagnosed with PCOS.

When I was first diagnosed, I was so thrilled to have a diagnoses that I could deal with. Now I am so bummed. I feel so alone! The Met and Gluc made me so ill I couldn't raise my head from my pillow (other than to lean my head over the side and, well, mention to Linda again). Upon examination, my doctor says I am not IR.

Are there those of you out there that eat well, exercise frequently, have healthy bodies and still feel like you've got one foot in the grave? I can't go on like this, and I really don't know what path to take now.

Can anyone help? I sure would appreciate it.
Thanks!
Jaye

Hi, Proudeart!
Thanks for the reply. I had a 17 hydroxy-progesterone test, so I think LOCAH is out.
When I was pregnant the second time, my fasting blood sugar level was high (140) and it was there once after that. My finger poke blood sugar tests are always under 100. My DHEAs were around 8 (I think that's right).
What is dex?
Thanks again,
Jaye

Have you tried Chromium GTF? It made me feel gross at first as did the Glucophage XR but now I am a different girl! Chromium helps you metabolize insulin better. Have you tried the XR version of the Glucophage? The original version made me really tired and nauseated. I stayed on it for two months and then started the XR version and it has worked wonders for me.
Chromium is a natural mineral you should be getting through food you can buy it at GNC. At first, when I started it, I didn't feel normal. My heart seemed to race and I just felt like it was making my sugar do odd things. Now, that I have adjusted (since March) I feel better and have a tremendous amount of energy.

Hey WaterGirl,
I too am like you in that I've always been avid fitness person (also an aerobics instructor, marathon runner, now lift alot of weights, etc..) and when you said you feel like you have one foot in the grave, I know exactly what you mean. All my life I've felt like I was such a healthy person....trying to eat well and exercising like a fiend. Now, I have all this stuff happening.....high cholesterol, the PCOS, and now it also seems like I may have hypothyroidism! I feel like this year it will never end. I've gained some weight and I can't get it off grrrrrrrrrrr!
Take care,
Baci

Hey watergirl,

I am not sure your diagnosis is right.. Did they test LH, FSH? Do you have cysts on your ovaries?

Good luck with everything,
Oana
