Default i feel spacey!!!!Help please

I started met on Saturday night. The endo said to take 500mg with dinner but after some reading decided to start with 1/2 a tablet to reduce side effects. The first night I felt nausous but don't at the moment. The problem I'm having is that I feel very spacey and tired along with a little down. Is this normal and will it pass??????

I'm worried that if I feel like this on 1/2 a tablet how will I feel when I have to take three a day...............Any advice would be appreciated.

Default Nope, your not alone

I have been extremely tired the last couple of days, although I have been on Met for a couple of weeks now. I know from taking it previously that it can cause severe hypoglycemia in me,at least. So, I advise you take it with lots of high protein foods, and try to eat more smaller meals/snacks thru out the day.

I also started to feel more hungry today...uggg

Another cause could be a Vitamin B12 deficiency. I take Metformin and my endo told me that Met causes a Vitamin B12 deficiency in your body. I have posted the link to a Vitamin B12 Deficiency Study below:

Spacey and tired is often a sign of hypoglycemia. Since your body is going to start using insulin differently on the drug, make sure you are eating enough. Eat a small snack when you feel that way and I bet things will improve.

Take care.

Hi,
Christy advised me when I first started--advised me that it sounded like my blood sug. had gotten too low. I had a really spacey feeling/lightheaded, too. That hasn't happened since.

Christy (or anyone),
Do you know if increased hunger is usual on met? I've been ravenous. I also have been feeling very depressed--it's hard for me to keep up with anything except my job. Not much energy for mroe than my job and walking 4 or so times a week.

thanks
ama

Thanks everyone for your advice. I have started talking vit. b12 in the hope that it will help. I am feeling worse just prior to meal times so I guess that may be hypoglycemia????????????

I will start eating more high protein foods and see if that helps...
I have been advised by the pharmacist to check blood sugar levels with a blood glucose monitor so I will let you all know the results.

Lets hope we all start feeling normal again soon!!!!!!!!!

Blessings

Question Need encouragement

Ever since my period began at age 13, I had frequent spells of fatigue, night sweats, dizziness and nausea only to be told by numerous doctors that there is nothing wrong. I have even been admitted to the psych ward when I demanded a cause/diagnosis for these horrible spells.
These episodes seemed to decrease once I was on the pill. ( I never realized there my be a connection between the 2 until now)
Anyway...My spells seem to be back full force now I have started the Met. 500mg I was fine but the 1000mg is killing me! I feel like the "crazy" teenager again-which is not a good thing.
This morning is the 1st one where I actually feel OK, I pray it lasts and that I can bump up to 1500mg soon. Has anyone out there had a similar experience? I feel so alone sometimes....I am only 30 and cannot bear to have to live with these spells. Will they ever go away for good? Please help..I need a shoulder to lean on!

Default feeling spacey

Hi. I just started on Met. last Thursday. I do not feel like myself at all. I am tired, dizzy, and use-less. I have been sleeping all day and could not do any work! My head hurts too. I was supposed to take 1500 mg (3x500mg) per day, however, I have only been able to take 1000 mg due to the side effects. I just am not feeling like my happy self, kind of depressed too. Just wanted to share with you so you know you are not alone.
I hope I can hurry and work my way to the 1500mg doctor recommended. Take care.

Your doc had you dose up really fast. I was on 500x2 weeks, then 1000x the last 2.5 mos. I'm not sure I want to go up to 1500.

I have had some really nice things happen in the last couple of weeks--big decrease in oiliness, some decrease in rapidity of hair growth and it seems thinner, too. I also am having a slight reduction in hairloss. I also am having a more normal cycle.

The negs for me are I am SO tired. I'm wondering if the met is affecting my thyroid meds because I'm noticing more heart palps, too--which may mean i need to decrease thyroid.

I too wonder if it will pass? I'm not sure if it's worth feeling this tired.

did anyone start to feel less tired after months?
ama

Default Maybe try the XR or ER (Extended release)

I was having a horrible problem with extreme fatigue. I started the XR and the fatigue was magically gone. It might be worth a try. I think maybe it was too much of an overload of meds all at once with the regular Glucophage/Metformin (generic). I am not IR (testing at the fasting level) but when I eat my insulin triples into abnormal levels. Good Luck!

Default i feel spacey!!!!Help please

Thank you for your replies. I am feeling better today, but I was up all night, kept going to the bathroom b/c of drinking lots of water. I am gonna stay on 1000 mg until I see my doc, I am supposed to see him when my ovualtion test shows positive. He told me to start testing for O on Cycle day 10, and that is today. It so good to have this mesage board and all of your support. Sometimes, I don't feel like doing anything but I go through and read all theses posts and it is great to be able to relate!

I too have been feeling soooo tired and my head hurts too. I thought maybe I was getting a sinus infection but maybe it's the met. I've also been feeling dizzy. I've been taking 250mg of met twice a day (a very low dose) but still feel awful.
My doctor said to stop it for a week and see how I feel and restart when I feel ok again. I'm worried that I will have to go through it all again..........
I hate feeling unwell and am also feeling down when I don't normally. Oh I want to feel good again.
Here's to us all getting back to normal. Take care. Kathy
