Lightbulb I was feeling sorry for myself today and....

As of Yesterday I have no job, my husbands college semester starts back up in a week, we committed to buy a used car from someone, our church situation seems very bleek, Almost everyone I know has gotten pregnant this summer and well, I've thought of every reason to feel sorry for myself over the last 24hours. I happened to check out my email where I received a poem on Dying to Self. Please Check it out and feel free to go to the website if your interested in more.....I was very uplifted.

Dying to Self
So, how do we truly present ourselves to God as a living sacrifice? In a nutshell, we must die to our prior selves. This concept is wonderfully presented in this anonymous poem.

~When you are forgotten, neglected, or purposely set at naught, and you don't sting or hurt with the oversight, but your heart is happy being counted worthy to suffer for Christ;

That is dying to self.

~When your good is evil spoken of, when your wishes are crossed, your advice disregarded, your opinion ridiculed, and you refuse to let anger rise in your heart or even defend yourself, but take it all in patient, loving silence;

That is dying to self.

~When you lovingly and patiently bear any disorder, any irregularity, any annoyance; when you can stand face to face with waste, folly, extravagance, spiritual insensibility, and endure it as Jesus did;

That is dying to self.

~When you are content with any food, and offering, any raiment, any climate, any society, any solitude, any interruption by the will of God;

That is dying to self.

When you never care to refer to yourself in conversation or record your own good works or itch after commendation, when you can truly love to be unknown;

That is dying to self.

When you can see your brother prosper and have his needs met, and can honestly rejoice with him in spirit and feel no envy, nor question God, while your own needs are far greater and you are in desperate circumstances;

That is dying to self.

When you can receive correction and reproof from one of less stature than yourself and can humbly submit, inwardly as well as outwardly, finding no rebellion or resentment rising up within your heart;

That is dying to self.

Grow Deeper Now!

I pray this finds comfort in your battles with self-pity as I have had. Or if you just needed to know that God is near & loves you Dearly!

I fall into self pity too. The verse that hit me the hardest was in Jonah 4:4:

But the LORD replied, "Have you any right to be angry?"

I always thought I had a right to be angry, a right to feel self pity. I didn't realize what it really was.

Yup! ((sigh)) I have alot to learn!! But the good thing, is I'm willing to be taught. Jesus spoke to the needy. To those who called upon Him. Those who were outcasts or didn't fit in, who were poor, neglected......Prostitutes, liars, tax collectors, those who cheated on their spouses ...they were all forgiven and loved if they asked for forgivenss. What a loving God! To think of the chips in my vessel that need patching so that I can be made new and whole again. I praise God that I am loved that much! To think that my sin of anger or self-pity is no smaller than that of a prostitute or liar, or tax collector....Yikes! But that I'm forgiven, and can be made new by dying to myself each and everyday with just reading Gods word and praying everyday. What a Gift!

I'm glad my eyes were opened this morning!

Willing to be taught is 99% of the battle!

Have you heard the song about how drunks and prostitutes paid so much attention to Jesus? It's the coolest song.
