Ya know I wasn't sure where I wanted to post this...
First I started thinking Rant...but I'm not mad really. Then I thought Do You Have This Problem?, but I know some of you do, and I know what it is. So I settled here...
I just had an ultrasound internal and external. Just as in I just got home.
I've had pain on my side for 2 1/2 -3 years. Now at first I just thought, my Dr thought...its those damn ovaries...but it all the times they've been scanned I only had a mess of cysts once, and it wasn't as painful as this. So I was also thinking it's something else...got to be something else.
The tech I had today was very nice, and happily showed me the screen and pointed things out and was pretty funny really. I'll tell you what isn't funny though...there was nothing to see. I am text book...everything looks perfect, and it always has, except that one time; but today there was nothing...no cysts, no fibroids, no nothing...detectable by u/s.
She was done and I went damn it...I explained it's not that I wanted her to find something but it would be nice to say ooooh my pain is caused by this or that. The weakness is this or that...KWIM?
So now I gotta do what I figured I'd have to do in the first place...get exploratory surgery cause I'm pretty sure it's Endometriosis. I was just hoping that it could have been a bit simpler...it's not like everything else has been lol.
I'm really not mad. I'm kinda taking it in stride. I don't mind surgery, I like the idea of getting some good solid sleep really lol I love drug induced sleep...it's the needle that I DESPISE...
Anyway...if you read all that I thank you

That sux I have a pain in my abdominal area for 8 years and I though it was from a c-section that I had with my first child but after having my second child the doctor "cleaned up the last one there was a ton of scar tissue cuz the first Dr. was a jackass I had an emergency c-section because as if it wasn't hard enough to get pregnant I ender up with pre-eclampsia any way all the scar tissue is gone but any sudden movements and i get this shooting pain, not sure why though.
I'm in the same boat as you. I've got pain in my side, that sometimes makes me double over. But on the internal/external u/s all they find are ovarian cysts that they say aren't big enough to cause any pain. My Doc offered to do go in and look around, but that means I've got to find a sitter for 2-3 days for 3 kids. I was really hoping that they would see something that would make the pain not just "in my head". Stupid PCOS!

Hi,
Sorry to hear u are in pain.
I do have endmetriosis and always suffered awful pain in my side, and went private eventually for a second opinion, and it turns out the pain in my side was nothing to do with my endometriosis or PCOS, it was IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) I was advised to eat lots of fibre, eat as healthy as possible etc and the pain has eased off big time. I know there are certain foods that have me in agony chips/fries Pizza Ouch kills me and white bread. Also spaghetti Bolonese, its the sauce as Lasagne kills me too.
I'm not saying u don't have endometriosis but it could be IBS that could be corrected by diet, so alot less painful.
Best of luck, hope my advice helps a bit.
dilly...I wish. I thought IBS too, but my diet is pretty much vegan. Plus no one food makes it better or worse and it is ALWAYS much more severe during my period.

My primary complaint when I went to the doc and ended up with a dx of PCOS was for severe abdominal pain, worse at the time of my periods. After my u/s they said there were lots of tiny cysts (doctor's word, tiny) and that one of them "probably" burst. I'm honestly not sure what I think about that assumption. My pain is less severe now, but then I haven't had a period since November, when it was the most severe (I couldn't even get out of bed for two days, and to get to the loo I had to walk bent over at the waist, holding on to things!). I'm looking into getting in to see a doctor of natural medicine (posted about it in doctor section, if anyone is interested), and I"m hoping she'll have more insight. I think my current doctor's heart is in the right place, but I'm not so sure she's totally "up" on everything I need the person treating me to know.
Soulful Queen, I hope they figure out what's wrong soon - I've only dealt with this pain for six months, I cannot imagine three years of it! Keep us updated, luv...

Having pain for this long has been...annoying, not knowing what the exact issue is...THAT'S the worst part though. That and the weakness from anemia...which the Endometriosis (assuming that IS what it is) is horrible for. The days prior to my period...I sleep. The iron helps TREMENDOUSLY though.
Just have to get to the Dr and see whats up

Hi,
Me again.
Sorry u are in pain even with diet changes etc.
I was diagnosed with mild endometriosis 1999, the thing about it the pain I got a period time was excruciating. I have it at the back of womb and bowel, so that is why diet makes a difference for me I suppose. Well I took the pill back to back , ie without any 7 day break for 3 yrs, so basically if I wasn't bleeding then I wasn't aggrivating it. It did help with the pain, and because I have PCOS also I lost weight as my ovaries were asleep lol.
I came off pill as was TTC since 2003, had IVF got pregnant have a beautiful son, so that was another few mths with my ovaries asleep.
Now my period pain is normal, well I'm not sure what normal is, but I know when AF is coming as I get cramps and a bit of back pain but only have to take the odd pain killer. I used to have to go to A&E and get morphine shots the pain was that bad. If u have to have a laperoscopy then at least u will get the help u need if it is endometriosis.
Diet is important too though especially around that time.
Hope that helps x
