Default I got meds today and now I feel nervous to take them!

I went to my doctor today, whom I LOVE to talk to her about my anxiety. It is getting worse, to the point where I can't even grocery shop without freaking out!

Anyway, we agreed upon wellbutrin and xanex for bad days until the wellbutrin kicks in. The thing is, I don't know what to expect when I start the meds. How long will it take for me to feel better?

I was on zoloft before, but I couldn't take the sexual side effects. I told her that if the wellbutrin doesn't work, that I will be back for some zoloft and viagra!

So, what was your experiances...

KimberlyHeidi,
I have been thinking about you wondering how you are feeling. Good luck to you too. Do you have an appointment to talk to someone about meds??

I also bought that book that Nicole47 recommended about cognitive theraphy. I am hoping to feel better soon. Keep in touch and let me know how you are doing.

Rosie1028....I totally feel you on the anxiety issue. I suffer from an anxiety disorder (which seems like the diagnosis for you). I have to warn you about the Xanex, which I have used several times over the years. It can definately be habit forming. I would recommend only using it when absolutely necessary. The last thing you would want is to become dependant on it.

I was taking Webutrin for several months when my doctor abruptly took me off it. I had a sleep study done and the results showed that I had abnormal brain waves. Abnormal brain waves suggests siezures and my psych was worried the medication was causing it. One of the side effects (VERY RARE) with Welbutrin is siezures. Of course this has not been confirmed with me and it is possible I have Epilepsy. I will find out soon what is going on.

Definately don't judge how you will react by my experiences. Everyone reacts differently to medication. I miss being on the Welbutrin. It seemed to help me with my anxiety and now I'm having old symptoms that I don't feel I can tolerate. It has taken me years to get on the RIGHT combo and right doses of the meds I'm on and I can say that I've never been more "normal" in all my life. After I find out about the results of the brain wave tests I am going to see about getting back on the Welbutrin.

Remember, it can take months, even a year for an anti-depresant to really be effective. I learned this the hard way, flip flopping meds in order to find one that didn't have a side effect. Unfortunately most meds do have side effects but I can attest to the fact that side effects normally dissapear the longer you are on them.

Hope some of this was helpful. Good luck Cyster!

Shana,
Thank you for your reply. I went and saw a therpist today and for the first time in a very long time, I feel like I am going to be okay. I am also going to quit taking the wellbutrin and start taking effexor.

Thanks again, this is all so overwhelming and hard.

Hi Rosie,
My dr gave me Wellbutrin also. I have been on Lexapro but I cant stop gaining weight on it. I am so nervous to start taking the Wellbutrin....afraid of some bad side effects, adverse reactions, not knowing how it will affect me, etc. Let me know how it goes for you.

Mandi

I was nervous at first when I took celexa but now it's just like taking any other pill. I haven't noticed any side effects from it and I am feeling a BIT better, not as good as I was on prozac. You can always stop taking them by tapering off and they don't have nearly the withdrawal effects of Effexor or Paxil. Now, those two I'd be terrified to start just for that reason. Effexor is hell to come off of.

Good luck and I hope it works out for you.
