Smile I guess you have to be your own dr. somtimes

Somtimes I think You need to be your own dr or get a 2nd view. My cousin is a head nurse . I told her about my skin problems and she ask me when I started getting it? I told her in Middle school in High School. She said that's when you usally start changing. So she thinks my skin problems is due becasue of my hormones. Now I been to so many skin drs. and they all same the same thing. That I am doing it to myself which is total bs. I also told her I have pcos and she said that it does casue you to gain some weight and you do get skin problems. Now I just find it funny becasue my dr. said you don't gain weight ..that its in people's head and that you don't get skin problems.

So anyways my cousin said I should take the provera (which i stoped becasue I got sick) and then take the birth control pills and see how my skin is. I am taking Yaz. She said that it also may help you lose weight becasue it has the ingredients for a water pill. So that can help a little bit for me to lose some weight. So she said just to do it and then take the pill and wait 3 weeks to see if it helps my skin.

I was thinking about getting lazer surgury to get rid of my scars on my skin. It's more on my arms and its on my lower back. Does that seem normal? My Dr. was like "if it was the pcos you'd have it everywhere".

She thinks I am doing it to myself too. I just worry that if I stop taking Yaz it will come back.

Start holding your doctors accountable for what they say...

Ask them to point you to, "credible medical literature supporting their claim..."

I would also have a 3 ring binder at ALL of my appointments with credible medical literature - related to your specific pcos symptoms.

Have the binder sectioned off: Skin issues, Weight issues, Sleep issues, etc...

If you bring something up, and the doctor dismisses it, whip out the binder and show him/her the literature, and ask why s/he feels the research isn't valid.

When I started showing up with studies (it a neat and concise format), it changed the course of my treatment, and doctors stopped giving me 'flip' answers based on 'nothing'.
