I THOUGHT I was going to see an herbalist, but he turned out to be a dietician instead. I peed in a cup and spit in a cup and he told me what kind of diet I should eat. According to this man, I am allergic to everything I am eating including all normal foods such as spaghetti, peanut butter, dairy, tuna, gluten, etc etc. All real food is off limits to me. I am only supposed to eat foods like endevine, radishes, beets, blah blah blah... Who the h*ll can LIVE on foods like that? He also wanted me to swallow 2 teaspoons of olive oil every morning (can you say barf?) and drink 80 oz of water. I can't be in the bathroom that many times a day! He also misdiagnosed me by saying I had constant constipation ( NOT true at all) and swelling. I feel like I wasted my money.
I know foods like beets and radishes and stuff are good for you, but you can't eat nothing but that! And I like olive oil but not straight up! He also suggested about 7 mineral suppliments (we were in an herbal/vitamin store, so imagine that coincidince!)
I can't get help anywhere! He TOTALLY missed my PCOS even after I listed symptoms. My doctor won't treat me and now I can't find anyone else that can either.
Arrrgh, it's quacks like that who give the entire alternative health profession a bad name! Please don't give up. Find a licenced naturopath and try again. When I went to one, I didn't have a diagnosis yet, but she started me on a Chinese herb and a homeopathic remedy made from cow uterus (I kept reminding myself that virtually none of the original matter remains in homeopathics). The only reason I stopped going was because we hit a time when financially I just couldn't afford to. I had to work my butt off on my own, trying and testing things to see what worked and what didn't for me (Vitex made things so much worse, for example). But seeing the naturopath, and hearing that this wasn't in my head and that something was wrong with me, was a great step.

I agree, find a licensed naturopath/homeopath. What a difference they can make in how you are treated, the treatment you receive, and the personalized service too

but I live in a tiny rural town and there is no such thing as an herbalist or natural doctor anywhere near me, and even if their was, I am flat broke every month.
