I have had some luck--home remedy

hi ladies! i just thought you might like to know that I have had soem luck with neosporin, zit cream and band-aids...strange I know, but hear me out.

LAtely, my cystic acne and other zits have been taking over my face, especially my chin. HUGE puss-filled zits that mutate and won't heal. the result of popping is that they turned reddish/purple and has scabs that usually required popping them again. the result of not pooping them was big whiteheads on my face for days at a time OR my face turning reddish purple and scaly from being dried out by my overzealous applications of acne medicine. **ps--I am on my 4th wek of erythromycin too) ANYWAY...i am freakishly addicted to watching discovery health channel and was recently watching a plastic surgery show. they lady had some kind og MAJOR face peel and surgery. she looked like a fish. well, the doctor bandaged her whole face for a day b/c he said that "covering the skin forces the medicine to go deeper into the skin and produces better results". SO--i thought it might work on acne--and it did for me!

Right before bed time, I washed my face with antibacterial soap--lever 2000 (not my usual cleanser) and made sure ll make-up was removed (used a mild astringent). then I put neosporin on the places on my chin that had scabs or purple marks from recent zits. Then I put proactive zit cream (active ingredient salycylic acid 2%) on the white heads. I then took medium sized bandaids and made a little chin cover with pads on the bumps...this required my cutting some of the sticky strips short and doing some creative patching...I looked rediculous, felt like hannibal lector but I WAS DESPERATE AND DIDN'T CARE. So I have slept like that with that ritual for 3 nights and the zits that I have been fighting for several weeks have made DRASTIC IMPROVEMENTS in 3 days! the most important thing to to have a clean face. put the meds on the bad spots, and cover with bandaids that will stay and that won't put the sticky part on a bump--that would hurt.

I have used Neosporin on my zits for years. I think it is counterintuitive cause it is greasy BUT it does help with redness and quicker healing!

Never thought of band-aids (mostly cause I am allergic to them!)

I too saw that show on TLC, DANG she was scaly!

yeah--it was TLC. I watch Discovery Helth CHannel so much that I get them confused.
