Points: 647.26 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 647.26 | I have hair on my.. butt...
I was diagnosed only today with PCOS and I am 14 years old.
I have lots of hair on my lower back, my stomach and my bottom.. I am totally embarrassed about it and dont know what to do
The Gyno I went to put me on the pill, will this make everything normal again?
Like will this cause all that hair to fall out or stop growing. Or should I be taking something else aswell?
Im really stressed out about this.. |

There are other things you can take, but I'm sure how good of an idea it is for a fourteen year old. Perhaps look at the natural remedies people are using on this board? It's actually really great that you already knowat 14 years old! You can be so pro-active about PCOS. You are going to be fine!

PP is right-birth control won't do anything about the hair you have already, but it can help slow any new growth. It helped me a bit with the excess hair growth. I'm not sure about anything else that might help with the hair issue. I shave and wax pretty regularly to get rid of it. I know it sucks and I hate it too! Good luck.

It would be pretty difficult to shave or wax hair on your back. I have stomach hair too, but it doesn't bother me as much as the hair on my chin so I usually just leave it alone.

I can sympathize because I was in the same situation at your age. Just understand that, though these things are embarrassing, they are natural and there's nothing "wrong" with you. I wouldn't reccomend waxing or shaving any of the hard areas (like your butt or back) because it's really really hard to keep up with it, and it only makes the hair darker (I made the mistake of Nairing my butt once- LoL!) Instead, just work on getting use to the concept of this being normal. It is normal, because it's your normal. You'll be just fine, I assure you. Good luck, and if you ever need to talk/ask questions/vent feel free to contact me!!! =)

Diane/Estelle (BCP) seemed to keep hair growth at bay. I've switched to Norimin now cos my period was so heavy and I'm not so impressed with its hair inhibiting qualities! lol But what is right for one person is not always going to 'work' for another.
Maybe save up to have those areas waxed? Its not as painful as you would imagine and I had a lot of success with it (until I ran out of money lol).

My Mood: Points: 550.49 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 550.49 | I know how you feel. I am hairy everywhere, but I have thin hair on my head. I always thought this was because I am Italian, but now my doc told me he thinks I have mild hirsutism. There are lots of women out there who are hairy, they just hide it really well I think. I have a really thick "happy trail", hair between my breasts, and about three rows of hair around my areolas, not to mention hair on my chin and lip. I feel like a wookie sometimes, but then I just have to remind myself that it's more normal to have hair than not, and not everyone needs to try and be completely hairless from the nose down

Points: 5,462.72 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 5,462.72 | A lot of women here are saying not to shave, but for me, shaving was the answer to my anxieties and problems. I hardly think about the hair in those areas anymore because I know that when I shave it, it's not there and no one could ever see it. If you have to shave your legs anyway, like most women, it's not too hard to just shave your stomach, lower back and butt along with it. These areas are not hard to shave at all-- the upper back would be the hard part. It may make the hair *seem* darker or thicker because it is cutting it off at the thickest part of the hair, but it won't actually affect the hair or the follicle, so if you stopped shaving or waxed it would go back to its normal texture. However, because you are so young, your hormones may still be changing, and your hair might get darker or thicker because of that-- but not because of shaving.
For me, I have to shave my legs and stomach every day, and then my lower back/butt I do every other day but I can really go up to 3 days before you can notice anything. In fact I can probably go longer because the "stubble" is still not visible and just feels like dry skin, but I'd rather not. If you don't have to shave your legs every day I would guess the rest of your hair would grow slower. It's not that hard to keep up with once you get used to it. When I first started I was spending 45 minutes in the shower but now I'm down to 30 minutes which is around my normal shower time before I started shaving everything (I like to take my time ) |

Work colleagues, neighbors etc. don't know that I have male-type moustache and beard growth -- they never see any trace of hair on my face. On the other hand, as far as other hair is concerned I leave it. I keep it covered up. Yes, my butt is hairy -- but then, who sees it other than DH, and I don't think mine is any hairier than his is. |
