Hello,
I am new to this board. The doctor gave me some info about pcos and I did a search and found you all. I must admit is all seems hopeless at times; but I guess I will get threw it.
First thing I want to do is get on some kind of diet plan.
Any advice will be appreciated.
I have about 60 pounds to lose.
I am not a big fan of eating meat or dairy; but I will look around and see what I can find.
Hi and first of all welcome to Soulcysters.
It can be very tough getting the news that you have PCOS but it get's better - at least now you know what is causing all of these symptoms.
My best medicine was weight loss and I feel 100X better - I did it with no white flour and no sugar and excercise at least 4 times a week. I watched the potatoes and the other starches but I didn't eliminate them. it took me about 8 months and I lost 60lbs. I still have 15 to go but I haven't been excercising like I should so they are taking longer to come off.
I hope this helps - It sure helped me - I feel like a new woman

Welcome here! You'll be fine if you don't want meat or dairy (you'll likely consume less hormones, etc., that way, anyway). You will have to make a big effort, though, to consume sufficient protein from other sources. See you around the boards!

Hey,
I am fairly new myself to this site. But I have found some great women and stories that have helped me through some tough days. On the subject of dieting I'm not good at any. But one thing I did try and it worked. This is gonna sound really simple but just try it. First of all PCOS has a lot to do with insulin resistance. This means we don't take to sugar very well. I'm sure there are more technical terms but that's my words for the day. Anyway Stop drinking SODA. If you can switch to tea or some other type of drink with no or less sugar, it's a dramatic start. Then stay away from Bread and Potatoes, starches. This stuff turns to sugar quickly. I did this and drop 35 lbs in just 2 months. I didn't exercise either. I just watched the sugar intake. Give yourself a little while, because your body will have to adjust and once it does you'll see and feel the weight drop. I don't know if you have the same symtoms that I do but one was an irregular period, well I've have a period for 1 and half years straight. Before I wouldn't have one at all. It's amazing how much sugar can make a person's body with PCOS go hay wire. Just try this and let me know how it works for you.
