I found out I have pcos. My doctor was very insensitive and told me to follow a 500 to 800 calorie diet (he preferred 500) and come back in 60 days to do blood work again. My head is just spinning and I don't know what to do. I have joined 3 pcos website , but they are not very active. I dont know much about pcos but I have been surfing the last few days to find out.
Any hekp in the right direction would be great.
Holly

Welcome to Soul Cysters, Holly. I'm fairly new here myself and so far it's been a great resource for PCOS information. Very informative and helpful, and everyone seems very friendly. I hope you get some of the answers you are looking for here.

Working out the perfect herbal blend for me.
Your doctor sounds so insensitive, and it is rediculous that he has asked you to only consume 500 calories. I believe that our brain alone would require that amount, so definitely bad advise.
Yes it is very difficult to lose weight with PCOS but don't think such a drastic approach is a good idea. We all need to eat. Maybe better food choices and some exercise might be a good start.
Hope you find a better doctor and some good answers.
Best wishes.

And hes a doctor?
You would be almost dead if you only consumed 500cals a day..anorexics do that and you see how unhappy and slow moving they are
Im a teen and i see a nurse practitioner and a doctor. I have not been diagnose yet by blood test(ultrasound only) and i can so imagen what the doctor would say! She is soooo insensitive, I cannot stand her
Oh honey it is alot to take in. I have been dx about 5 years now and Im still learning new things. Everyone is different and some things work better for others than it may for all, but dont give up hang in there. Oh and that diet .....it is rough. 500 calorie seems a little extreme but I am no doctor. I have a hard time with the diet myself. The hardest part is the no bread or whole wheat only. I just wish you the best, and you are definitely doing the right thing read all you can the more you know the better off you will be!
