Question I have a question about ultrasound results

Ive posted about the pains that I have in the lower left side of my stomach before. When I went to my gyno I told him about it and he said he thought it might be my gallbladder. For some odd reason he sent me to the hospital for an ultrasound ( he has a machine in his office ). I clearly told my doctor that I was hurting in the lower left stomach. The tech lady never got near that area. She stayed right up under my right breast. Later at home, I checked on the internet & according to webmd if you have gallbladder problems you will hurt under the right breast. I dont hurt there. Never have. Anyway my husband and I read everything we could find on gallbladders and we dont think thats my problem.
Anyway I called my dr the next morning to get the results of the ultrasound. I was told he would have it the evening after the test but I waited anyway. When I called the girl that answered said that she knew the results where there because she remembered pulling them that morning & seeing my name. She put me on hold, came back & said that the dr hadnt read them yet. So I waited till the next day late in the evening and called back. I was put on hold for 20 minutes & no one ever came back & said anything to me. Well Wed I get a call from the doctor saying my pap smear had came back normal. Which I was very happy about. Since my last one came back abnormal. While she was on the phone I ask her about the ultrasound results. She put me on hold and came back & said the dr hadnt got my results yet. I got a letter through the mail yesterday from my dr saying he had been trying to reach me on the phone but coudnt get me. Which is a lie because I have caller ID and an answering machine. He hasnt called. Anyway the letter said they have the results to my ultrasound and they need to discuss the results with me soon. Of course I tried calling as soon as I got the letter and they were closed. So I have to wait till Monday to find out what they found in the ultrasound. What im wondering is what could be wrong with me? I really dont think its gallbladder, I didnt have any of the symptoms of it. Ive been feeling bad all this week. Feeling sick to my stomach, headache,no energy, and my lower left stomach will hurt off & on. We are TTC but im not pregnant. Im sorry this is so long but does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with me? I am open to any suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

hiya,
I too have pain in my abdomen and after having a lap my consultant told me it was due to the size of my ovaries. Mine are 50% bigger than they should be, and the fact that they pull down on my tubes causes pain and pelvic congestion. He reasured me that its natural but unfortunatley nothing can be done about my pain. Also is your pain worse when you ovulate? my consultant said that would be normal as they are big and moving and rubbing against other organs in my abdo. I think it would be a good idea if you asked your dr to do an ultrasound of the right area!!! also are you seeing a specialist in pcos?? if not go to see one as i found it made me more aware of my condition and better about my future!!
Hope this helps email me at dramaqueen_1_2000@hotmail.com if you need anymore help!!??

Im not really sure if I even ovulate or not. The first time I saw my gyno he lead me to believe that I was ovulating, the second time I saw him he said that he seriously doubted I was ouvlating. But I do know that it doesnt hurt all the time. Just off & on from time to time. The doctor ive been seeing is an ob/gyn. After going to 4 different gyno's with problems & no one knowing what was wrong with me, the doctor im useing now is the one that told me I have pcos. He saw me one time, told me he thought it was pcos , did bloodwork & confirmed it. I live in a very small town in Alabama. I have no idea if we have any pcos doctors anywhere around here. If we do, its most likely in a bigger city thats about 2 1/2 hours away. This doctor started out being really good but now he is acting like he doesnt have enough time to explain things to me. I feel like he isnt really listening to what im telling him. I never thought about my ovaries being too big. That never crossed my mind. Do you know if that can keep you from getting pregnant? My husband and I are TTC and I was wondering if that could affect me getting pregnant. Thank you so much for the advice.

hiya,
If your doctor has diagnosed with pcos you will have cysts on your ovaries and an ultrasound should confirm that!! These cysts increase the size of your ovaries and as you ovulate your ovaries move and/or throb therefore this causes pain. I find that my bowels are odd when i'm ovulating as my ovaries rub on my intestines!! These cysts affect how and when and even if you ovulate and this is how pcos affects a womans fertility. It doesn't mean you'll never get pregnant it just means it may be more difficult. The best thing to do to keep down the pain and increase your chance of ovualting and therefore getting pregnant is keeping you weight down my consultant advises i stay below a bmi of 22! It might be a good idea if you get yourself a book on pcos. There are loads go on amazon.com and type in pcos and just pick one as they all kind of say the same thing.
Also i know its gonna be difficult for you to get to a better doctor but i can promise you seeing someone who knew loads about pcos changed my life, it finally made me feel in control of my body and my hormones.
Hope this helps xxx

You don't have to have cysts to have PCOS. You'll only have cysts if you are not ovulating.

However - they will often not be able to see the cysts unless they do a vaginal ultrasound - and you obviously didn't get one of those.

I hope you're able to find some answers soon!

When I went to see my dr on the 4th of this month. I ask him to check to see if I had any cysts. Of course he didnt want to take the time but he did. He got the nurse back in the room & put something inside me & showed me a screen. Im assuming it was the vaginal ultrasound you mentioned. He didnt tell me what the test was called. He showed me my ovaries and showed me that I have 2 cysts. One on each ovary. He said they were normal size & nothing to worry about. He went on to say that most women, even those that dont have pcos have cyst. He said pregnant women get them also. He made it sound like it was perfectly normal to have cyst. Ive always thought that cysts were a bad thing. Im just really confused with all of this. I told him that I had been reading information online & he said " oh no " he said that was the worst thing I could do. But I have learned alot from reading online and I will continue reading online, he cant stop me...lol

Women get a cyst each month when they ovulate. It is essentially the follicle. Pregnant women have the corpus luteum that produces hormones until the placenta is developed.

They say the PCOS cysts look like a strand of pearls - a bunch of them lined up. This is the result of months and months of not ovulating. If you are an ovulatory PCOSer - you won't have any cysts.
