Default I have some hair loss questions

I am going to a OBGYN tomorrow. I have not been dx with PCOS yet, but I have all the symptoms of it. My hormones tested normal, but I have really bad hair loss. I dont think that my testoserone levels were checked. Anyway, I was wondering what hair loss treatment has worked for you all. I am on loestrin24 bcp, and met 500mg a day, do you think that any of that medication is going to help. I am also using rogain once a day (it is really hard for me to use it in the morning when getting ready for work.) I had thought about biotin, but don't know much about it. I also want to ask, did any of you have normal hormone levels, and still was dx with PCOS? And if you were, did your dr. help you instead of telling you that is is your weight and nothing eles causing it. ( I have been told this several times). My hair loss has gotten worse since being on the meds, (five months), do you think it will get better. I am sorry that this is scatterd, but my mind is scatterd at this point.
Thanks for you help , this is a wonderful site!!!!!!!!!!!

My hormone panel was all but normal aside from the androgen one which is what causes shedding and minuistraization of the follicle

I used ROgaine but twice a day for over two years and I can understand how horrid it is for you its so oily I looked like i had greasey hair for about two hours after applying it and I just felt it wasnt producing satisfactory results plus it caused the most horrendous dread shed

I am not saying nothint works just what I have been on which is the following (ps I have been trying to treat this for over two years and have recently quit using anything) ... I used ... Iron supplement, rogaine, proscar, flutamide, spirolactone, vitamins, nizoral shampoo and I had no positive result from any of them .. a treatment that works for one may well not work for another .. its so damn hard to treat ...

I hope your doctor can help you but do not let htem poo poo you off becuase its "only hair"

The Dread Shed is fairly common with the use of Rogaine (Regaine) my dem denied it but all the women and men I have spoken to have agreed they get it .. three months after I started to use Rogaine my hair literally started piling out of my head .. and i MEAN everywehre for about five weeks .... this is APPARENTLY a positive sign ! although I dont agree ... it is supposed to mean that the treatment is working by knocking out the hairs from the follicle to replace them with thicker more terminal hairs (in other words Rogaine is supposed to open up the follicle so it can produce better quality hair than it does while they are being closed by DHT) ... so I had this horrendous shsed and then NO regrowth ... it depleted my head of valubale hairs .. I stuck this treatment for a year and a half and never got any improvement.

Nothing that i used helped me wiht my hair loss .. it got to the point for me that I could either put the money aside and save up for good cosmetic hair replacement or keep throwing it away on treatments ... I am a member of various hair loss sites and there are not that many success stories for women .. it is worth however trying a combination of drugs to see if one works but each time you have to wait at least six months before you can see a result ....

I hope you do get some results if your catchign it early (I waited six years! stupidly) your follicles may not be so damaged

Default more about this dread shed

I use rogain 2% and I started Regenetresse a week ago. When I bought it I was so excited. Over the last few days,my shedding has gotten worse. I thought It might be from that, but was not sure. I wonder if I stop using the rogain and the regenetresse, would my dread shed stop? I have had no regrowth, but I felt like if I was using rogain, then that would aleast stop my hair loss, or slow it down, but it has not. Should I just stop using it? Would the shedding stop if I use it? Thanks
Mary

Smile,

Do you know if you have AGA, AA, or TE? It is exciting to hear a treatment that works!
