Question i hope SOMEONE can give me their thoughts

i convinced my DOC to put me on met to help me concieve even though I'm not IR, and i just started taking it a few days ago (1000 mg)...my question is - i know met is supposed to decrease your appetite, and ever since the day I started met my appetite has been huge!! i literally have been eating all day and not really getting full. I also started BCP around the same time ( i need to take them for a month before the IVF protocol) so is that why my appetite is out of control? but wouldnt the met overpower it or at least even it out? what i'm asking is - has anyone has the experience of met INCREASING their appetite? and for those in which it has lowered the appetite, does that happen right away or does it happen over a few weeks or so? thanks so much in advance for all your help! i would really like to drop a few pounds and I am baffled by whats happening!!!

I have been on met for over a year now, I never really noticed a decrease in my appetite, however I did lose weight (40 pounds, without diet or excersise). It did take a few months for it to kick in. Stick with it, it is working really well for me.
Good Luck

At 1000mg, I didn't have a decrease in appetite, but with 1500mg the cravings for carbs decreased. Something else that was new to me was that as my hormones changed like they were supposed to for the first time in my life, I noticed that that affected me as well. Hang in there!

I have had the same thing happen, but I think I've figured out why.

I have the metallic taste in my mouth, a side effect not all people have. It's totally distracting, constant, yucky, and nothing helps get rid of it that I've tried... gum, candy, mouthwash...

I figured out that I'm sometimes eating just because while eating, there's a different flavor going on in there, and I don't taste the metal as bad. When I stop, it's overhwelming, especially if I've just eaten something high in acid like tomato based soup or sauces (maybe that's just coincidence).

Just try to make what you're eating be healthy, eat things that take a long time to eat so that you're consuming less, and try eating smaller amounts all day instead of 3 large meals.

It might also just be from the diarhea... if it's going right through you then it's not in your stomach for very long, leaving your stomach empty and thinking it's time to eat again.

good luck!
