Talking I just got AF with Vitex!!

Hooray!!!
After 3 months of vitex and dong quai I got AF!!!! I am in shock and still cannot believe it!
I know that I've posted b/c I was worried about all the cramping I've had. I guess I was getting ready!

I am glad it has worked for you!!, and you gave it time. Alot of people decide to give up if it dosent work within a month. As i had non existant af for almost a year it took around 3-4 mths to appear, then keep appearing. I stuck with it for 7mths then got pg with ds who is now 9 1/2 mths. When we decide to ttc #2 we will use the herbs again without a doubt. I hope it continues to work for you. Good luck.

Thanks! I really hope it continues to work. I've decided to discontinue the dong quai and just take the vitex. I didn't find enough research to back the DQ for me. I NEVER get AF on my own, so who knows, maybe this will be just what I needed. I honestly dread telling my dr. about me taking it. She is not supportive of herbal therapy. I am thinking about switching docs, but she was WONDERFUL during the delivery of my son. I am not sure what to do. I would feel comfortable with her delivering other baby for us, but don't really like her PCOS philosophy.
Anyway, just noticed that I need to order more vitex- I am thinking of trying Puritan's Pride, b/c they offer 3 for 1 for $10.99, and this past time I've used GNC brand- which was more expensive.

How much VITEX did you guys use, if you don't mind me asking. Did you use it only up to ovulation? During menstruation?

Well I have been taking 1 400mg. capsule a day (GNC brand). All month since I don't have cycles or O.
Actually AF only lasted two days (sigh) BUT I am impressed that she showed at all. I am still taking it, and hope that I'll get another one.
I agree it is strange to be SO excited about AF, but whatever it takes! LOL!

I agree-- I think just knowing that I am doing something to help my body makes me feel better. Now if I could just start low-carbing! That is the hard part!! I am truely a carb-addict.

AF, Oed, ttc (ok that one's trying to conceive, etc. The abbreviations are driving me nuts. What are you all talking about?

AF is "Aunt Flo" or your period, and O is ovulate. Two very important things for cysters- LOL!!

I am TTC and going to use herbal remedies first. Of course, my doc says, "It won't work", but I have to try. I am very excited about the Vitex. I am going to get me some today. Can you get it at GNC? Should I just take one a day? There is so much research out there, I get overwhelmed!!

That is what I am doing. Some people take two a day, but I wanted to start small and then add more if I felt I needed it. The one 400 mg. dose a day has really caused my to feel crampy and somewhat bloated. However that is more than what usually happens with me (NOTHING!) and I did get the spotting (AF for the two days) so I hope that it will just continue to improve my situation.
I figure if after 8 months of trying herbs I am still not getting a good AF, then I'll return to the dr.
