Unhappy I just had my D&C

I just had a d&c yesterday and although I am not through with the aftermath just yet, I feel it was a basically positive experience.

I had some bleeding last week at 7wks, and went in for an ultrasound on Thursday. My dr. saw what he thought was a collapsing sac with nothing in it and said he was not hopeful. He ran another beta and wanted me to come in for one more ultrasound on Monday to be sure. The numbers went up a some, but not enough and the 2nd ultrasound was more conclusive that this was not a viable pregnancy. I went ahead and had the d&c yesterday (exactly 8wks).

I was under general anesthesia for the procedure and have had very little pain or bleeding since yesterday. I am glad I didn't schedule it last week because it gave me the time over the weekend to get used to the idea and come to grips with it. Having the D&C also is giving us some closure and a chance to move on with our lives without waiting for who knows how long to m/c naturally.

The good news is now we know I can get pregnant! If it happened once, I have to believe it will happen again. Also, my doctor said we do not have to wait at all to start trying again. He said usually, you will ovulate after a m/c before having another period. So, we will be jumping back on the bandwagon (so to speak before long.

Anyway, sorry this got so long, but i just wanted to share my story and say how sorry I am to everyone for their losses.

Default Glad you are doing alright

I'm sorry for all you've been through - but I think you have the right attitude. I wish I had gone for a D&C when all this started.

(((hugs))) about your lost pregnancy.

Our stories are similar. I also had a D&C at 8 wks due to a m/c. We went for an u/s and there was no h/b. Baby measured 7.6 wks. I had a choice to wait for it to happen naturally or have a D&C. I choose the D&C to help bring closure. I really felt closure when AF arrived 6 wks later. It is a good thing that you know you can get pg. You are lucky that your doctor is not making you wait. My RE made us wait 3 cycles after each m/c. Good luck to you, and if you need to talk I am here.
