3 years ago I weighed 234.5 pounds. I lost the weight through the pure science of diet and exercise (thanks to Nutrisystem for making the diet part super easy! some of you have surely seen me endorse it here before!) and picked up a passion for running along the way. My brother (in my avatar with me at the finish line!!) and his wife were planning to run/walk a marathon for charity and I decided to train to do the same marathon, running the whole thing. I'd trained for 4 months and on Sunday (10.18) I did it -- I ran 26.2 miles. The best part? Here I sit, 2 days later, with barely any muscle aches in my legs planning my next adventure (I'm thinking triathlon!).
To those of you working on weight loss - keep up the great work. Power through the tough days and the frustration and you will be shocked by what you can accomplish. And to those of you waiting to start..looking at it from this end there is this whole amazing world out there that's just waiting. Join me!

I've hit my goal (er, passed it up a bit!) - 102.5 pounds lost thanks to following Nutrisystem and exercising...and sticking with it!
I'd been overweight since adolescence and I've maintained my weight loss (current weight: 135 pounds) for 2 years and am (finally!) officially used to being thin.

Yay for you, little lady! Your story is so inspirational to me!
I've been running 5Ks like crazy. I think my total is eight or nine already this year since June and have kept plugging along. My last race I actually ran the entire time. My ultimate goal is a marathon someday.
Thanks for sharing your story!

Wow, that really is inspirational! Congratulations!
I used to LOVE to run but had a ton of knee problems. I've been working hard and they are finally improving, so I'm slowly getting back into running. My goal is the local 5K at the end of February. I have the feeling that will just be the beginning for me!
What an inspiration! Thank you for posting. My goal is to complete a triathlon by my 30th BDay so this is just what I need to keep me motivated. Thanks again!
Many congrats Julia! You are truly an inspiration.
I am thinking about a 10K run for charity in honour of my Dad who passed away from complications of Diabetes and Colon Cancer. It isn't until June, so I hope 6 months is enough time to try and train for it.
