Talking I LOVE vitex!

I was on cd 60 with no O in sight... I was reading about vitex here in AR and thought 'what can it hurt?'. Seven days after starting it... I O'd.

I have to add that I also switched from metformin (generic) to Glucophage XR but was on the same dosage. I don't know what did it... but I really think it was the vitex.

I am now 7 DPO and just love looking at my stable chart. No more Alps.

DH and I BD'd a little late... but truthfully, I am kinda looking forward to seeing AF. But then again... who knows...

I should tell my dosages
400 vitex in the morning
400 vitex in the night
1500 Glucophage XR
1/4 tsp Wild Yam progesterone cream in the morning
prenatals at night.

isn't it pretty

Talking Ain't it the best ?

I started taking vitek Sept 11th....got af on the 4th of October. I didn't expect that to happen, but so glad that it did. I was also doing twice weekly acupuncture as well.

I don't chart, but I think I may have o'd this weekend. Probably too late for us to catch the egg....dh just got home today after being gone for several months...oh well. There's always next month. If this month was not a success, I am going to add false unicorn root as well. We'll see what happens

Best of luck to you!!

Question Question about Vitex!

Hi!
Ok, so I got the vitex at GNC, and have been on it a couple of days. I am wondering where you got your vitex, etc. I am also taking fish oils (omega fats) and a vitamin for my hair/skin and nails. (I dont have hair loss, but I want to prevent that from ever happening!) I am not trying to conceive but would like to have regular periods. (I do have PCOS.)
Any help or advice would be appreciated!
Annette

The brand I got was 'Solaray'. I saw that another cyster had good luck with that brand. Each capsule is 400mg so you don't have to pop a ton of horse pills. I got mine at a health food store. I used to live in Missouri and now I live in Florida and the brand 'solaray' is in both places... so hopefully you can get ahold of some.

It is funny how a pretty chart makes me smile. Makes me feel like I can do something.

As far as trying to get AF, you might want to try natural progesterone cream (also at the health food store). You start taking it after you O (or if you don't O you just pick a day and start rubbing 1/4 tsp on your body where the skin is thin like breasts, inner arms, belly) and do this for 14 days. If you get AF, GREAT! If not, just pretend that you did. Stop for 14 days then do it again. You mimic a 28 day cycle with the upshot of progesterone after O and after awhile your body supposedly gets into the swing of things and 'learns' how to have AF on its own.

I don't know all this for a fact, but its what a naturopath told me and I have seen it on this webboard as well. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!

Question vitex?

Pardon my questions.... but I need a little direction

1) What does vitex do? I have just been diagnosed with PCOS. My periods are NEVER regular... this last one was 87 days apart. My doc wants to start me on birth control pills and glucophage. My bloodwork results for insulin and glucose, and for hormones, are not back yet. What could I expect from vitex?

2) What does AF mean???? There are several abbreviations on this board that I don't recognize. I thought there was a page describing common abbreviations here, but I cannot find it. can you help? THANKS!

Default Birth control pills

I would STRONGLY advise you to look into whether or not you should use BCP's.

There are recent studies that show that women with PCOS that take BCP's become insulin intolerant faster, which leads to diabetes faster. It is because of the hormones/insulin connection.

I would advise against it. I have been on the homeopathic/alternative route....to try to induce my period. You might ask your doctor and try looking there.

I know I didnt want to get to diabetes any faster than I'm headed there. I am on low carb now and exersize along with herb supplements...

Hope this helps.
