I am now expecting baby # 2 because of vitex! I just found out this morning! My first baby was conceived with the help of Vitex after only 2 months of using it and so was this new baby!! I'm so happy!!!
For all of those TTC, give vitex a shot. You have to be a little patient because it doesn't work as quickly as clomid but it works so much better in the long run!
I am glad to hear that vitex worked for you, not once but twice now!! That is great!
I only took vitex for a short amount of time, but the only thing it did for me is give me AF for 16 days straight, and that cant be normal lol.

I used it the same way I had been prescribed progesterone for years and years.
Cycle day 10 thru 25. I took 7 drops per day.
My cycles became regular for the first time in my life and after four AF's I concieved at 44!!
I like to get the word out for all of the trying to concieve cystas.
CONGRATS on the new baby!!

Thank you ladies! I too had been using the liquid extract this time around. I was taking a bit more though... about 20 drops twice a day. I had a hard time finding it but I had to shop around alot. I'm in Canada so I don't think I can be of any help. My first baby was conceived on capsules so I don't think it makes much of a difference.
I was considering taking Vitex also...BUT the info aout it is so variale, that I'm a litle bit confused, why did you ladies take one 7 drops and one 20 drops? why cd 10 to cd 25? Isn't cd 25 a litle too late, they say it is not good in case you conceived> Please answer...cause I;ll really like to give it a shot .
Thank you

when I was younger I bet I would have had to take more vitex.
It seems like the "energy" of all of those raging hormones was more extreme when I was younger.
The "yucky" hair on the back of my neck was thicker, more hair on abdomen etc...
I think it may take less medicine to turn around this error in hormones as we age because there is less to fight against--if I am making any sense.
as far as the cycle days---I was trying to keep my AF's coming to stay clear of any cancer in my uterus. My goal was not pregnancy. So--I was taking my Chaste tree berry the same way I had taken progesterone pills for decades and I was having much better flo with the drops. I was feeling better too. Just a few weeks before I became pregnant I felt like something had changed and I might be able to LOSE WEIGHT!! I bet you can guess that never happened
But Virginia is a wonderful addition to our family--we all enjoy her a lot and maybe I can get my weight off now.
My new treadmill should be here next Tuesday--then the self discipline can begin

You gave me hope..
I took the chaste berry tincture, but didn't take it long enough to get results. Just one of those things where I just quite taking it, but I'm fixin to start up again.
That just makes me feel so much more confident. We've been TTC for a while, and to hear vitex actually helped ya'll get pregnant is so cool.
Once again, Congragulations on your new bundle of joy!!!!

sapphiremommy - please share what your strategy was. I just started taking it again. I take pill form about 800mg in the morning. I'm also doing progesterone cream - 1/4 tsp 2x a day preO and 1/2 tsp 2x day after O. I just started doing this after I did some research. The doc told me that 50mg of Clomid didn't work.
Does this sound good or am I doing something wrong? HELP!
Thanks and congrats to the BFPers!

I love vitex too. I go to a TCM practisioner and she recommended that I take it day 14 - 28. She also said a good way to know if you are taking enough of it or for the right amount of time, is to look at your temps. If you start to feel hot (i.e. wake up sweating at night), then you should drop down the amount you are taking a bit. If you get too hot you are taking too much. If you aren't feeling the increase in heat you are likely not taking enough. When I first started to take it I noticed this within a week. I also noticed that my first af after taking it was a lot heavier than usual and went for longer - she said that it often causes you to have a good 'clear out'. After this my cycles settled right down and started to become regular. It's also good to look for your signs of PMS - breast tenderness, fluid retention etc - these should start to reduce, or perhaps you aren't taking enough. My practisioner also said that the main difference between the tincture and the tablets is that the tincture generally works better and faster. This obviously depends a lot on the particular person, but it's worth considering if the tablets don't work for you to try and get some of the tincture.

I noticed the same thing when I first started taking it. I would wake up in the middle of the night feeling hot and sweaty. I had no idea that it was the Vitex... I just assumed it was because I was a fat, sweaty, PCOS chick.
Amazing how well these remedies work. No side effects, no copayments, no doctors, just me and the GNC guy
Does anyone know of any limitations or disadvantages of taking these remedies?
Well I think the limitations are that they don't always work. Another problem, which is the same as taking any medication for PCOS, is that you can become reliant on the drug (or herb) and not do all of the other things that are so important for PCOS (i.e. good diet).
The disadvantages are that they may take longer than some fertility treatments to work (if you are lucky and conceive early on clomid, that is). I personally feel this is far outweighed by the fact that you are a lot healthier with this choice, because it balances your hormones, not just forces your body to just 'pop out an egg'. This leads to a much healthier pregnancy and a better time once you've had the baby (i.e. I had DD via IVF and had an awful pregnancy - gestational diabetes, the beginnings of liver failure... and then failed to lactate because my prolactin levels were way out and also developed post-natal depression). Often with trying for a baby we have tunnel vision and just want a baby, without realising that it can be sooooooooo much harder to have a baby when you aren't well enough to have it and let's face it, out of balanced hormones are difficult to deal with without a baby, yet alone when you have one. That is why I'm choosing to have a baby naturally this time, regardless of how long it takes me (I'm lucky - I'm only 30, so I don't have time against me YET).
