I'm back---haven't been on in a few months (helpful info inside, please read) Hello to all the newbies, and hello to all my old friends here on SC.
I stopped coming around in April because part of my anxiety problem is due to the fact that I was dependent on Xanax, a benzodiazepine, and in late April it went toxic in my brain, so my doctor switched me to Klonopin, another benzodiazepine, and I am now working through a compounding pharmacy to taper off of the benzodiazepines completely as they contributed greatly to my anxiety AND HORMAL PROBLEM.
Cysters - if you take a daily benzodiazepine (Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, Valium, Librium, Sorax, etc) please know that it has a profound effect on your endocrine system, especially Xanax. Inside of the Xanax PI sheet you get with your Xanax rx, it mentions menstrual irregularities.
Withdrawing from benzodiazepines is a slow and torturous hell, much like a long and drawn out heroin withdrawal, and having PCOS makes it that much worse.
With all that said..... I still have PCOS, which is making withdrawal from this dangerous poison very tormenting. Since I've begun the withdrawal process in early May, I've only been able to taper 5%.
I was supposed to taper 2% more yesterday, but my hormones decided to flip out. Suddenly my face and ears became ridden with cysts, migraines, crying spells, bloating, insomnia and anxiety.
I see a new gynecologist and I'm hoping he may suggest a D&C. The longest I went without a period was 4.5 months, but now I'm going on 7 months with no period, and I can feel the hormones fluctuating and it's making my withdrawal process very difficult.
Please note that I had normal periods for 11 years until my doctors polydrugged me on synthetic hormones, which resulted in unexplained panic attacks which led me to a psychiatrist who then subsequently got me addicted to the dangerous drug, Xanax.
I'm with an online support group for benzowithdrawal and they have a forum called "The Girl's Powder Room," which is only available to view if you're a emeber, but girl friend of mine in the forum started a thread with a poll to see if anyone's menstrual cycle was irregular since withdrawal of their benzodiazepines - 95% of the women on the site said yes, 3% said no, and 1% said other.
With all that said, I'm going to head over to one of the other forums on here and post some interesting topics about D&Cs and consumption of estrogen-rich foods.
