Default I'm blue...

Hi ladies,
I posted this in the depression board but I wanted to post it over here and ask for some prayers as well!
My hair is so thin, every time I see a hair on my shirt or run my fingers through my hair and pull out a couple I want to cry - I did this morning. And I'm very stressed out at work which probably isn't helping my follicles. A coworker quit and it's taking a long time to replace him so I'm covering a lot of duties I don't normally do and I have my own full time job! B/c I'm so overwhelmed, I'm making a lot of stupid mistakes and I work for a radio station so if I make a mistake - it's broadcast to the world, literally. I just had to put $400 into a car I bought two months ago. I need to get my wisdom teeth out and need to get computer glasses and have no time or money.
What really gets me mad is I thought as soon as I started losing weight my symptoms would decrease. I've lost 20 pounds (YAY) and my hair loss and acne is worst. I'd rather be fat with hair then skinny and bald. I've been so lonely and want to find a boyfriend and get married but how could anyone love me w/o hair?
Thanks for letting me vent.
Kara

Oh sweetie! Please don't be down on yourself.

Maybe...maybe...maybe...your body is trying to adjust to the weight loss and the acne and hair loss is a temporary issue. Maybe...I'm hoping for you.

Another thing...I'm thinking that God is making you wait for Mr. Right for a reason. He's trying to make sure that THE BEST man possible is in the right place in life for you to meet him.

My prayers are with you sweetie. Keep saying the rosary! It always helps me to relax and focus on the important stuff to get through it all.

BIG HUGS TO YOU!

Just wanted to give you a HUG! You already know I think you are beautiful inside and out and that you deserve the best fella there is... I am sure he's not too far away. But I am sorry you are feeling blue and having a tough time. Big cyber hugs from my end of the world to yours.

((Hugs))

Thanks you two! I have a question for you both. Did you find that pregnancy helped your hair? I've heard a lot of people say it made it grow fast and thick. (Not that I'm going to go out and get pregnant right now... :p) Also, I'm going to try to find saw palmetto oil to rub into my scalp at night. I've been taking it orally but I hear combining the two helps results appear faster.
Love you both very much,
Kara

Kara,

When I got pregnant with Elisabeth, I had a period where I was shedding like my cat. Then it just stopped and NOTHING came out. After I had her I was Ok for a couple of months. Since then, I've been shedding like my cat again. It's been brutal.

Now, I must say that I also have thyroid disease and when that's off hair loss is common. AND, having a baby will throw thyroid function off for a while.

Another thing...I never had much of a problems (ironically) with thinning hair. Even with all the shedding, I still have a full head of hair.

Good luck, sweetie. My prayers are with you always!

Hey Kara - I have to say I have never had any probs with the thinning hair on my head... touch wood. Overall my hair (and my skin, excess hair and ironically I think even my weight) has been in a better state since I have been pg. I have heard that saw palmetto is good for hair growth / excess hair. You can get it in a capsule form too (just in case you didn't know )

Stacie just made me think - have you had your thyroid checked? Could it be stress? I think I remember that you are covering for at least one other person at work? It might have thrown things out of whack?

Good luck and I hope your not feeling too blue for too long.

((HUGS))

Brooke

I'm not too bad. I'm taking saw palmetto and shampooing w/a saw palmetto shampoo. I'm giving it two months to see if it'll do something and then going to try spiro. I've mentioned my concern to a couple ladies (including my OBGYN) and all of them have said well it's not noticeable so that helps. I'm trying not to blow dry it or brush it and I'm going to get it cut again. I notice that when it's shorter it sheds less. I don't really like it short but perhaps I'll just leave it short while the saw palmetto's kicking in.
thanks for the words ladies!
Kara

I'm glad to hear you are doing a bit better, but I will still say a prayer for you.
