Question I'm exhausted... any help?

Hi. I have been taking Metformin for a week now, 500 mg once a day. I've read a lot of the sticky threads and my symptoms seem to be typical. I'm dealing with an upset stomach and feeling yucky. I am also just so tired. Is there anything I can eat/do to not be so tired. Tomorrow I start taking a 500 mg pill twice a day and I fear this is going to make it worse. Any suggestions? Does this take a while to get used to?

take two Acidophilus tabs with each metforim tablet... try to keep water intake to 2.5 litres a day.. nurse told me too much water dillutes the met and makes us get nasty side effects. Take these proboitic tablets for the few weeks till you get used to met.

As usual, I'm agreeing with Eva (she's so the voice of wisdom!).

Give it a month. I was exhausted, beyond all belief, the first few weeks. Now I'm pretty much normal---my "drive" is a little lower than normal, I don't want to go out as much on the weekends, but heck---i think that started with the PCOS going into overdrive, long before Met. Or maybe I'm just getting old.

Try taking some B12 (the sublingual tablets work best for absorption). I was dead tired with Metformin when I started and each time I increased the dosage - I was bobble-head all day at my desk. But it only seemed to last a few days to a week, so wait it out. A quick brisk walk at lunch helped me too.

I've been taking metformin for a long time and it makes me really tired. Any suggestions on how I can help that?

How long have you been taking it? My doctor told me it takes about 3 months to get used to it. I have been on 1000mg for about a month now. I still feel like crap most days. I have also been really tired lately. Hoping this isn't something that last forever. Going to up my dosage to 1500mg next week. So that should be fun!!

I've been taking 500 mg twice a day for almost 2 years. Yesterday my doctor up my dosage to 1000 mg twice a day. I've found that eating healthier foods with met helps me feel much better.

I understand what all you all are saying about Met. I would have to say that the more time elapses the better it will be. But today I feel like crap. I am just so ready to sleep, and boy does I feel so light-headed. FYI I just increased my dosage to 1500mg a day.
