Congrats on the weight loss, Tridgy!

According to your signature, you are on Spiro...one of the side effects of spiro is it plays with your periods. I was on spiro for a brief time and found it threw my periods so out of whack, i discontinued it. After years of no AF, I didn't want to go back to being amennoric again. I'd rather shave than fool with my periods again.

So keep in mind Met will probably not regulate your periods on Spiro.

All the best!

Provera will likely work to induce a period, but then the Met is having to battle all these conflicting drugs (Spiro and Met) to try and bring about AF and regulate your hormones. When you start taking too many things, they can counter each other and you don't know what drug is doing what. Met on it's own will regulate hormones and induce a period, but it takes time and patience.

Just my two cents.

Tridgy: It won't hurt you, but it won't help a lot either. Metformin is a hormone regulator, and if you throw in too many other drugs whose job is to fiddle your hormone levels, Met will be rather useless. I hate to see you wasting money on Metformin, if you are taking other drugs that counter act what it does.

Many Dr's get in a rush for us to have AF and don't care about over-perscribing too many things as long as they get us out of their office and menstruating. Ultimately the choice is up to you if you want conflicting drugs in your body.

You will more than likely have AF regularly if you leave Met to do it's work without throwing other drugs into the mix. But it takes some time to get everything sorted out hormonally..especially if you have been on other hormone surgers like BCP, Provera, Spiro etc.

Hope it helps!

I THINK I WILL SKIP THE PROVERA AFTER THIS MONTH & SEE WHAT HAPPENS. SO FAR IT SEEMS LIKE THE MET HAS HELPED BECAUSE OF THE WEIGHT LOSS & I HATE TO MESS THAT UP. THE SPIRO HAS HELPED WITH THE HAIR TOO SO I HATE TO STOP THAT. I WAS ON PROVERA FOR ABOUT 4 MONTHS BEFORE I STARTED THE OTHER MEDS & IT WORKED WELL, I WAS TAKING 10MGS THEN, NOW MY ENDO ONLY GAVE ME 5MG. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO

Honey, it's really your call. But I just wanted you to be aware of the consequences of having so many things working at once. If Provera is inducing your periods, then Met isn't.

I totally understand wanting to have a period, but I was willing to go without one for a few months while Met worked in my system to do it's thing, in order to have them on my own regularly down the road. It's kind of a long term gain vs short term gain thing.

Being on spiro, while it is great for the hair growth, will always keep your cycles irregular. Unfortunately since there is no cure for PCOS we have to treat each symptom and when the meds work against each other, we have to choose which symptom is most important to us to treat. For me, I chose regulating periods over hair but that's an individual decision.

You're already done the provera for this month, so your hormones are already on their way. Just let your body do what it's going to and decide how you want to handle it down the road.

Whatever you do, I wish you well.

THAKS FOR ALL YOUR ADVICE. THE FACIAL HAIR REALLY GOT ME DOWN & I FINALLY FEEL A LITTLE BETTER ABOUT MYSELF. I THINK I WILL SKIP THE PROVERA FOR A FEW MONTHS & SEE WHAT HAPPENS. I HOPE ALL WORKS OUT O.K.
