Thumbs down I'm HOT!!!!!!

Help!!!

The weather has changed. Everyone around me is shivering and complaining about how cold they are. I would be in a tank top and shorts if I wasn't at work. My neck and face feel hot and I'm sweating.

I'm on Met, Lexapro, Advair (new one), Singular, Claratin.......I do PC on the second half of my cycle...........

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks,
Robyn

I think they are going to throw me out of my job cause I'm constantly asking for the air conditioner to be turned down. I wish I had an answer. Just wanted to let you know it's not just you. Tell those freezing little chickies to put on some more clothes...lol . I tell them they can add clothes...I can't take mine off...but don't make me cause I will! :o

Hope someone has an answer.

Red face

hahaha!! I have to laugh cos this is a subject that plagues my daily life. Everyone thinks i'm crazy. It can be the coldest of days outside and i'll still come into work looking like i've ran a marathon. Getting public transport doesn't help matters cos everyone wants the windows shut. My shirt is completely soaked at the back by the time i get to work. It's so embarrassing People used to ask questions but they're used to it now.

Now it's Autumn I can no longer get away with putting the fan on cos everyone gets up and shouts at me that i must be insane. I agree, I must definitely have something wrong. I'm sick of the arguments.I've thrown extra fleeces at them and they've told me its not them that needs help, it's me!! There's a long-standing joke at work that if ur cold come and stand next to me cos i must give off heat like a radiator.I have trouble getting make-up to stay on because i sweat so much. There are days when it really does get to me. I would absolutely love any help on this one....
You're not alone!! xxx

I am the same exact way! I argue all friggin summer with my family about the air conditioner. I went to Florida this summer and stayed with an aunt, who liked it to be 77 degrees in her house. I thought I was going to die! I hated the trip because I was so hot. Arg, in class i'm hot! Ack, It never ends!!!! I wear flip-flops in the winter ack!

Your not alone!!!

Have you tried Evening Primrose Oil? It is recommended for hot flashes, cold sweats, etc. It might be just the thing. As I'm TTC I only take it until ovulation. I take 1000 mg x 2 per day.

Hi. I am also always warm. Fortunately, I am able to wear tank tops and baby T-shirts, with the microscopic sleeves, since I'm still in school. But, I find that if I can wear sandals on my feet, I'm usually alright. It seems if I wear socks and closed toe shoes, my body is like 10 degrees warmer! So, even though it's turning to winter, i still wear sandals to work (PT bank teller) and I'm usually ok, even with wearing long or 3/4 sleeves.

And, when people say I'm crazy, for wearing tank tops in winter, I give them my little theory: It is approximately the same temperature inside, year-round....due to A/C, central air and heat....the only significant temperature change is outside, in the elements. Thus, as long as I wear a winter jacket, or what-not, I dress for comfort, INSIDE the building I will be spending the majority of my day in. And, if people look at me and say stuff, I say "you can put more on, I can only take so much off!!" (I know somebody else said that, just thought I'd emphacize it!!!).

Good luck, to all of you, cuz I know it's no fun to always be warm and sweaty. Have a great day!!!

Thank you all for your replies. I still sleep with the fan on as well. I think I will get some Evening Primrose Oil to see if that helps.

I looked up my new inhaler's active ingredients and came up with this:

Adrenal suppression secondary to inhaled fluticasone propionate.

Taylor AV, Laoprasert N, Zimmerman D, Sachs MI.

Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, Mayo Clinic and Foundation, Rochester, Minnesota 55905, USA.

BACKGROUND: Inhaled glucocorticoids are the medical treatment of choice in many of patients with asthma. Fluticasone propionate is an inhaled glucocorticoid with little systemic bioavailability via the oral route and infrequent association with systemic adverse effects at the recommended dosage. OBJECTIVE: To report a case of adrenal suppression and exogenous glucocorticoid excess from inhaled fluticasone propionate. METHODS: A 9-year-old girl with a previous history of episodic asthma was placed on 550 microg of fluticasone propionate daily for severe labile asthma diagnosed by history and methacholine challenge. The patient returned 6 months later with complaints of increased appetite, nausea, and feeling "hot and flushed." On physical exam she had stigmata of Cushing's syndrome. The patient subsequently developed orthostatic hypotension and moderate dehydration following a viral illness. After a long taper of fluticasone propionate the patient' s adrenal function returned to normal and she had no acute or chronic exacerbations of her asthma. RESULTS: Her 8 AM cortisol was undetectable with an ACTH of 21 pg/mL. The serum prolactin, TSH, free thyroxine, insulin-like growth factor I, and renin activity were all normal. An MRI study of her head was also normal. Repeat methacholine challenges while receiving a much smaller dose fluticasone propionate showed a significant decrease in airway reactivity. CONCLUSION: Adrenal suppression can occur from inhaled fluticasone propionate at a dosage less than has been previously reported.

Publication Types:
Case Reports

PMID: 10437819 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE]

I think I will take this to my doctor and see what he says. I have always been warmer than most, but this is rediculous.

Thanks again!!!

Robyn,

That article on fluticasone is interesting. I've been an RT for over 3 years and have always told my patients that there is little chance of systemic effects from inhaled steroids. Advair is relatively new but really is effective in preventing asthma attacks, that I'm convinced of. Now I'm going to have to do some more reading about the findings of that study.

When I first started the spiro I was always hot. I'm a lot better now, but I still don't tolerate heat well at all. I have noticed that I sweat more than my workout partner and she's got about 40lbs on me. It's not fair!

Hi Robyn,

I think you are hot all the time because of the Lexapro. I was the same way. Every minute of the day I was hot. There was being no cold for me. I finally went off the Lexapro and I am not hot all the time I am actually cold at times. My doctor also told me that I was probably sweating from the Lexapro because that is a side effect to it. Hope this helps you!!!

Hi everyone! I'm new here and haven't posted yet, but when I read this thread on being hot all of the time I just had to respond!

I am hot ALL of the time and it makes me crazy! I sleep with a fan on all year long, no matter what the weather is like outside. People at work will have their heater on in their cubicle and I always have my fan on in mine. I used to be able to wear sweaters during the fall & winter but I can no longer do that because I'm just too hot.
It makes me self conscious when I'm sweating and everyone else around me is cold, or if someone notices the little beads of sweat on my face.

I know that part of it is a side effect from anti depressants, I was originally on Zoloft, then Lexapro and now Cymbalta and increased sweating is listed for all of them as a side effect.

I saw someone mention primrose oil and wonder if that may help, certainly is worth giving it a shot!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

LilyHoff
